Main breaker heating up and tripping

I own a 2005 Mountaineer 5th wheel, I have been running my ac on low and my main breaker heats up and trips 2-3 times a week.. Ive checked and im getting 118 volts with a drop to 110 when ac kicks on. Its been simply lately i just leave lights off lower temp at night so ac doesnt have to work as hard in the heat of day etc. Today I came home ans found the breaker had recently tripped. Only thing i left on was ac and a box fan. Also on first hookup to plug 3 days later I found the plug was wired wrong nuetral and hot was reversed. I corrected the problem and the plug melted.. Nothing on rv was damaged. I replaced plug and power box just to be safe. The power is inside my moms house. Its a 200 amp service in her house a new 30 amp breaker new 6 gauge wire pipped to new plug wire is only 100-105 foot long . voltage drop shouldnt be an issue however they did just add a new window unit ac in their home..

The breaker doesnt get extremely hot only warm and plug is about the same temp. I tested by leaving ac off and breaker is still getting warm.. When i turn ac off and back on quickly to do a pressure trip ( the ac pressure is still to high for the.compressor to kick on) and both the ac and main breaker trip however the main is the only tripping other wise.

I have an electrical background however this dual power system confuses me.

It is very common for the wire connections in the panel to be loose. Many times straight from the factory. Disconnect all power and check the terminal connections in the panel box. This should be done at least once a year.

I have checked the wires going to the breakers and the main wires I can see without pulling the entire converter. They are all tight. Im leaning towards low voltage issue or ac needs repair. I will be buying a new breaker this week to see if the breaker has worn out..

I had a similar problem with an Electric Clothes Dryer, had been working fine for some time then started tripping the breaker. Open box and each terminal took almost a full turn. Never bothered again.
Another possibility is just a bad breaker. Last year I had to change the breaker for our Electric Stove and found that one pole of the breaker was intermittent, installed a new breaker and no problem since.

I just replaced the AC in my motor home. It seemed to work fine, cooled OK no strange noise, nothing. My generator had went bad and the guy that fixed it said something in the camper was pulling too much power. He could tell by the problem with the generator. So we checked the AC and sure enough it was pulling 25 to 30 amps while it was running. It should pull 16 amps on startup. The new one pulls 2.5 amps running.
Might check it.

Ill have the ac checked after I replace the breaker. I know the more a breaker trips the more damage inside.. Also I forgot to mention I do not have a battery in the rv at all.

New breaker is cheap and easy, still have the problem more money and AC service man. Hope it is just a breaker. Might not hurt to check the AC junction box, might be a loose connection up there.

My 20 amp breaker for my rear A/C started tripping several years ago. Checked the wires and they were tight. Replaced the breaker and it stopped tripping. Breakers do go bad sometimes. And inexpensive and easy to replace.

The ac controller needs 12 vdc as does the thermostat. No battery in unit says that the converter is supplying that voltage and without the battery to filter out ripple from the converter you aren't being kind to your systems. Put the battery in.

Try increasing the A/C fan speed. The condenser coils/fins could be icing up.

Running the ac on high during the day and turning the temp down at night has helped..
I am still purchasing a new breaker and battery as well.
Thanks for all the help
