Rear bumper
Hello all , new to the forum and Montana .
We have a Montana 305RL and want to mount a scooter carrier on back . The scooter is a 350 lb Yamaha but would like it to carry 500 lbs . I realize it would have to be reinforced but can it be done safely ?
Thanks for any help .

In my opinion there is no way the bumper will take that. I'm even afraid to stand on one. Have a real hitch welded to the frame and be safe.

Agree with Dick, only if you have a REAL hitch mounted to the frame and reinforced.

Totally agree , wouldn’t put a bicycle rack on that bumper . Looking more for someone that has re enforced their trailer to take this amount of weight .

X4 ... there is nothing structural about these bumpers. Have something adequate made.

Contact Lippert and they will tell you your options, as one option. Just a suggestion.

I've always heard how flimsy these bumpers are, but here's my tale:
First trip with this fiver to our winter site, I went to pull thru down a slope to leave. I had gone this way with our SOB before but that one didn't have the spare tire under the rear which I then proceeded to get hung up on. Long story short the ground was still spring wet and I couldn't move forward or back. Ended up calling roadside. The guy tried to winch it out but couldn't get a good angle with the cable, so he ended up hooking up his tow bar on the rear bumper. He ended up lifting all the weight off the spare and reeling it back up the slope pulling my tv along with it. I stood there grimacing as he got me out and the bumper never moved a bit.
Since then I've backed out of that spot the way I go in. It's the one in my signature.
