On our shakedown trip in the hill country just north of San Antonio got 13.2 mpg. I'm running a 2003 Dodge 5.9 turbo diesel SRW and was pulling the 3475RL with no water in the tank. I usually cruise at 2000 rpm (approximately 60 mph). With my 30 ft Cardinal I normally got between 12 and 14 depending on the wind and terrain. In my mind anything above 11 mpg is good.

05 F-350,CC,LB V-10 just under 15K miles pulling a well loaded 3400.. Over the last few days.. Roswell, NM to Carlsbad, NM on Rt 285 all numbers from the on board computer. 14.2MPG from Carlsbad, MN to Pecos, TX on rt 285 13.2. I-20 East at Texas speed limits to Abilene,Tx 10.2
Abilene,Tx to Shreveport, la on I-20.. Rolled into the Shreveport KOA at 9.2. That's right... it is a V-10 3:40 diff... This V-10 is doing better than I expected in all areas.oh did I mention climbing out of Alamogordo,nm on 82 to artesia,nm topped a grade at 50.6 MPH (GPS) speed limit 50 mph.. Fuel Milage 5.0MPG .. Climbing that grade out of Alamogordo Helen was driving..She looked over and Said.." we are huffing and puffing".. I said " a diesel would be doing better"(hint) She said.."we Didn't need any better" Oh well..

I won't discuss my mileage because it all depends on my foot.

Now I wouldn't say that after all most everything I know I learned right here on this MOC forum. As far as the link itself, most every link I post can be found on the RV Related Links page. In this case you'll find that link and more under the "Tow Vehicle Accessories" category.

Hummm.I put 26 Gals of BP gas in my truck in Shreveport,LA yesterday. First time I have used BP since I left Ohio... My MPG went into the dumper...8 mpg on fairly level LA interstate. I let it run down and filled it with Texaco..I will never put a drop of BP in the truck again?????

Whenever I leave Hurricane, UT and pull to Laughlin, NV I get 14.0 MPG, of course that's an elevation drop of 2700 feet. I find the change in elevation has the most effect on my mileage.

Ever since we hit Louisiana and began using the gas in this part of the country our MPG has gone in the dumper We had gained 2MPG + while in Az,NM ad TX and lost it here. There has got to be something different in the fuel blend.

When we were in FL in Feb, almost exactly the same mileage with our Ford. I tracked every tank, and in FL, flat, warm, we were 13-14MPG. Overall mileage Northern VT (15 degrees F)to Ft Meyers (75 degrees F), and back, 12MPG. 263.5 Gals, 3174 miles. Truck is nicely broken in at just shy of 30K miles, mixing LDS and ULSD depending on availability. Fuel prices varied from state to state, with a final fuel cost total of $645.57. Truck is 100% stock.
The computer showed 11.6 MPG, which is quite close to actual measurements over the entire trip. I am guessing it may only show average for the last 1K miles or so. I never reset it, just noticed at the end, it reported slightly lower than our overall mileage based on actual fuel used. Other factor, could be accuracy of speedometer? It runs about .8 MPH slower than what our GPS reports (at 60MPH on Spedo, GPS shows 60.8). No expert here but tend to guess the GPS is more accurate? The tires have 30K of wear on them, maybe enough to make a difference??

My husband and I just got back from the Mendicino coast to Sacramento, pulling 2950RK with the 2005 Dodge diesel I averaged 13.9 mpg. I normally drive around 65 mph on freeway, hills alot slower.

Tires on both the TV and 5er filled with Helium, all three waste tanks filled with Helium, fresh water tank filled with Helium, air bladder inside 5er filled with Helium - total weight for vehicle and trailer less than 5 ounces. Floated from Abilene to Hobbs New Mexico on a dram of Diesel equating to maybe 15,000 miles per gallon. Too bad though, we were hoping to go the Shreveport but the wind was against us
