Duravis R250's
No more time for time for research. Had to make a decision and get new tires ordered. Bringing the Monty home from the dealer tomorrow, I hope. They've had if for 7 months doing warranty work (another story). Keystone sent me $500 towards the purchase of 4 new tires. No one locally could get the Maxxis tires, so I opted for the Bridgestone Duravis R250.
If a 37 pound Marathon tire is capable of supporting my trailer, then the 59 pound all steel construction R250 should be more than capable of handling it with ease. I plan on running the tires at 85-90 psi. I ran my Marathons at 90 psi after learning about the GY service bulletin. They did run about 10 degrees cooler at this pressure according to my TPMS.
Just couldn't bring myself to spend $400 each on G-614's. Saving up for a new TV.
Thanks to all those that contribute on this forum. I sure appreciate the differing view points, and information available here. At times my brain was smoking from information overload on this tire issue. With your help I was able to make an informed decision.
Safe Travels....
John

I run my 250's @ 80-84psi cold. On a hot day they will climb to 95-96psi, warm day about 93-94psi.

I noticed the 235-85-16 Duravis R250 has a load capacity of right at 3000 lbs (load index of 120). My trailer weights in right at 13K loaded, am I out of luck trying to use these tires? I too am looking for an alternative to the 614s.

Subtract your hitch weight from the 13K, and that will be your load on the tires, probably be good.

A wise choice. Mine have been trouble free and I don't have to constantly check my mirrors watching to see if they've blown.

My local tire guy got the tires in and I went to massage them. These things have a super thick side walls. They look to be a very high quality tire. My tire guy said that when he putts new tires on his trailer, this is what he's going to go with now that he's seen them.
Unfortunately, they might not be installed on my trailer for quite some time. Dealer failed to fix my axle problems (over a 7 month period) and Keystone has me in a holding pattern while they try to make a decision. Tire guy said he could send them back and not to worry about it.
Silly me, I was hoping to be able to enjoy my Montana this summer. Guess I was wrong again.............
