Heated Tail Gate option

I have heard that Dodge and Ford have added the heated tail gate to thier 08 250's and up. Wondering if anyone has heard about this new option?

I sure could have used one on my 04 F350 PSD. I got cold hands pushing that thing off the road a few times.

Power and fuel economy come far behind reliability in my book.
I have had my V10 2 years now and she has never let me down, touch wood. My stinky noisy PSD was towed in 3 times in the short 10 months I suffered ownership of that thing.

The 05 and 06 Ford PSDS are much better and I hope the new 6.4 will make Ford the all round top gun, not just in payload and looks but in diesel reliability too.

OK, I'm lost. What is a heated tailgate, and what purpose does it serve??

All I saw on the 08 was the fancy retractable ladder built into the gate.

Aaaahhhh! Guess you have to spend a lot of time in the Chevy Service Department waiting room to come up with that kind of stuff

hehehehehehe, ya'll have a great sense of humor. yep your right. It's to keep your hands warm while pushing it back to the dealership.lol It works with any brand whether Chevy,Ford,or Dodge. I pulled it on my Uncle a few years back, and he was actually laying on the floorboard looking for the switch to turn it on. Took everything I had to hold my cover on that one. Just payback for stealing all of my clothes and towel at a corps campground shower. Fastest trip I ever made back to the camper, tree to tree.lol

Gee, Ford has a heated seats option, too. That's nothing new.

Like Brad, I'm curious what's the purpose (serious) of a heated tailgate. The only reason I can see is to keep the ice melted off the tailgate so the other brand drivers can see what they can't catch!

Seriously, we'll be in the market this summer, looking at all three brands, and I am wondering what the purpose of a heated tailgate might be. Or is someone fishing and I bit?

I think you've been caught Steve "Hook Line and Sinker".

The heated tailgate is to keep your hands warm while pushing them Fords and Dodges off the road.

Hook, line, sinker, bait, ...

Glenn, I guess that's why GM made it standard first, huh?

I have to confess, it had me too for awhile. I could see no logical reason to have a heated tailgate, ( I always turn around backward, and grab the bumper, more leverage )

I was informed the other day that 98% of the Ford products built in the last five years are still on the road.

The other 2% made it home. Perhaps with the help of the heated tail gates.
