Converter location on a 2005 Montana 3400 RL
Our new batteries won't hold a charge for more than a few days, we think the problem might me with our converter. Can anyone tell us where it is located?
Thanks,
Jim & Marge

The converter in our 3400 is behind the breaker panel in the bathroom.

Jim,
Still haven't found it I see. I don't have your model, so not a lot help there. Normally they are around the AC / DC panel. On mine it is under the stairs going to the bedroom. Access is from basement or you can take off the gril on the risers.
On ours, the more load you put on it the more noise the fan makes.
AC Breaker should be labeled for converter, and check DC Fuses.
I recommend you disconnect the negative battery terminal and see if any of your DC lights work. That will tell you if the converter is putting out or not. On my model the convert has just one output which feed the DC panel where all the DC Fuses are. If the lights are on with the battery disconnected, the the convert is putting out, and you have a blown fuse between the converter and the battery.
Lastly Jim, where are you currently? There may be MOC member near by, that can help.

We found the converter, it was behind the breaker panel in the bathroom as some of you suggested. Unfortunately it is dead, we have to replace it. Guess those things just happen. I (Marge) was surprised that it went because we really have not used the Montana that much. This year was our longest trip 3-1/2 months. My husband Jim of course says those things just go.
Thanks for all of the help and the quick responses everyone gave us. Once again, this forum is just unbelievable.
Hope to meet some of you in the near future, make new friends and travel companions.
Thanks,
Jim & Marge

Before you replace it, are you sure the circuit breaker didn't trip? It's very common.

Tom,
Wish it was just the circuit breaker, but my husband had checked it.
Thanks for trying to help and saving us a few dollars.

Thanks Jim for the info on the fuse, I think my husband (who is also a Jim) checked it out, but I will pass it on to him.

If you have incandescent bulbs, they will flicker as the converter changes charging modes. This is normal.
