Microwave/Convection Oven Replacement

I have found a couple of threads on here re this subject. A few folks have replaced them and couple have listed the brand of the replacement. I'm asking if any of you that have replaced their MW, can you tell me the brand and model number. I would like to replace mine with a MW/Convection, but would also consider just a MW. We have a Ninja toaster oven that we keep on the coffee bar, so don't use the convection part that much. Most replacements that I have looked at will stick out a little further and are a little taller. I have the factory tile backsplash that butts up to the bottom of my mine and don't know if I will have to trim some of it for the taller MW. Our Highpointe has left us nonfunctional twice now, and don't want to experience a third time. I know that the Highpointe does not have a very good track record. Any help or advice will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

What's wrong with your current convection MW?

Dead when we did the PDI, the dealer repaired using zip ties to pull some wires into place. Now, it blows a fuse when closing the door. Replace fuse and may work for a few days, or blow immediately. It is a documented problem with the door switches. It is designed (from what I have gleaned) to blow the fuse if the door switches do not close/open contact in the correct order. I've debated just replacing the door switches, but we have a 6 week trip coming up beginning in April and won't be using the camper much until then. Don't want to get two weeks into the trip and it go out again.

Understood. While we have not experienced the same issue with ours, it will be something to be aware of. I'll be following his thread for the future if needed. Thanks and good luck!

I am not familiar with the Highpointe and how the newer units vent. But if you are going to replace it with another model/brand convection/microwave make sure you can adequately vent the heat from behind the cabinet. The convection mode puts out a lot of heat.

Thanks Bill, ours's is vented to the outside through the side wall. Most replacements that I have looked at are convertible from internal vent, top vent our back vent.

We used a Sharp from Amazon that fit the hole.

When our microwave/convection oven died last year, we replaced it with a Samsung microwave only oven. We never used the convection part of the oven, so with the microwave only, it has a higher wattage and was less than half the cost of the combination ones. The vent is also at the same location as the Frigidaire was at. Also, the interior space is quite a bit larger. The one we got is model # ME19R7041FB and had Best Buy deliver it, although with the Covid thing, they did not install it, but we were able to do that. I believe the height of the new one was the same as the old one.

Thanks Bob and Becky, I'll take a look at it. By coincidence, the MW at our house is also out, the handle broke off, and since it is almost 20 years old, am going to replace the MW. Maybe I'm just rough on MWs? I think this may be the same one we were looking at for the house.

We had the same problem with our Highpointe 1705M. After it blew the fuse the second time (and only a day after I'd replaced it), we yanked it out and put a Whirlpool WMH78019HZ-1 in. I'm not especially handy, but I was able to do the removal and install myself.

We got the new unit at Lowes. We've been very pleased with the Whirlpool. We're full-timing and my wife and son have some weird food needs, so it's getting a lot of use. Zero complaints so far. (We've had it for roughly two years.)

Bonus: When we went to our dealer for the 1-year review on our Monty (before the warranty expired) we told them about replacing this. They asked us to provide a receipt for the new unit, then submitted a claim to Keystone. A few weeks later we got a check covering the cost of the replacement unit. Woohoo!

It appears you are still under warranty, have the dealer replace it.

Our 2017 3921FB's Highpoint gave it up this summer. We had it repaired when back in AZ & no sooner did the repairman leave than it blew one of the replaced fuses. Went to Best Buy, found a GE Profile combo unit, model # PVM9179SK2SS (stainless), & had it installed. Fits perfectly into the old spot (be sure to take measurements!), same with new mounting plate. It vents out the back like the old one. Took a little getting used to the buttons/know function, but I like it. So glad to have my convection back!

We had a Highpointe in ours as well. We replaced the fuses and the switch and after a couple of months, the fuse blew again. We replaced it with an
LG - STUDIO 1.7 Cu. Ft. Convection Over-the-Range Microwave/Convection Oven from Best Buy. The model # is LSMC3086SS. We like this unit very much.

We replaced our HighPoint with a KitchenAid Microwave Convection oven. I love it!! Use the convection component all the time.

We are currently dealing with the blown fuse issue. Already ordered the door switches.
Right now we leave the breaker off, put the plate of food in the MW, turn ON the breaker, push the buttons and cook the food, turn OFF the breaker BEFORE opening the door.
Can't wait for the parts to come in next week.

We replaced our stock that stopped with the Sharp combo. They are over 500 but they work well and are vented. They bolt right up. The original was junk as expected and I always expected it to catch fire. No regrets.

Started working on MWs in 80s. This is the first one I've seen with WiFi enabled model with smart features and mobile app. My question is, will it order groceries when you get low?
