Hitch setting

I am awaiting my 2021 3120rl to be built. I bought a bw companion hitch. Anyone know if I should set the hitch for low, medium, or high for the 3120? I would like it set right rather than have to change it once i go to get it.

You won't know until you get the unit. No telling where the pin box is mounted and bed depth. You got the right hitch. Just have the dealer set everything to achieve the right bed rail clearance.

You did not say what tow vehicle you had. On our RAM3500 dually, we have it set all the way forward and the lowest setting. YMMV as they say. We have 6.5-7 inches clearance at the tailgate but the trailer still rides slightly nose high. But that will be addressed when we get the MORryde IS installed in a couple of months. Not a big deal to change the settings if you need to.

On my 2013 F350, I had to use the lowest setting. If you want more clearance between the trailer and bumper, put the brackets so the hitch is at the rear most position.

on the lowest setting I had 7-8" bed rail clearance.

Just checked our Reese hitch. With the hitch plate 16-1/4" from the bed our 2020 3121rl tows flat with 9" of rail clearance (2018 F350 dually).

I have a 2020 f350 dually. I think they lowered them from previous years by an inch and a half so my getting may be higher. In the end I will just wait and see what I have to do once it arrives. Thanks for the responses all.

I bought the B&W Companion for my '19 Silverado dually. I preset the hitch to the middle position because I am terrible at math. As it turns out, I needed the high position. But, you have a F350. Could be completely different.

2017 F350 super cab dually with 2019 3121RL and Companion hitch. If you have the Rotoflex pin box, the middle position should put you level with plenty of bed clearance. I replaced my pin box with a Trailair and had to raise the hitch to upper position.

Set the hitch head at 17" off the bed.

4X2 or 4x4 wheel drive? My last truck was a 4X4 and the hitch setting was at the low setting for 2 different fifth wheel trailers. My new F350 dually is a 4x2, which sits lower so the hitch is set at the highest setting. But like others have said you will likely have to wait until you pick up the trailer.

On my 2019 F450, I am at the lowest setting with it in the most forward position.

On mine the dealer that installed it had it set low but I had to raise it 2 bolts holes to get enough clearance. I now have about 6 inches clear between the bottom of the trailer and the top of the bed rails.

You just can't tell till you hook up the trailer. I have the B&W and there is plenty of adjustment in my hitch. You just need to hook it up and measure. It doesn't matter what truck you have. You always need to MEASURE.

Exactly slow hand, that's why I posted an actual measurement of 17 in off of the bed of the truck to the hitch head. All the statements of I set mine low or medium or high the most part are worthless.

It's pretty simple though you can do it with math without hooking up. Measure from the hitch surface on your PIN box to the underside of the trailer. Now subtract at least 6 in. Now set the hitch head in your truck that number below the bed rails
