Valve Stems
Monty in shop for warranty repairs and replacing "rubber" tire valve stems with high pressure steel ones. Dealer states they are having problems finding steel stems to fit the rims on the Monty. 2011 3400RL and the tires are G614's. Anyone have specific info on what to get and how to get. Gave them printout of stems mentioned by someone on MOC but they didn't work according to dealer. Dealer is charging $17 per tire plus cost of valve stems so shouldn't matter to them. Thanks,

Local Firestone truck shop did mine. Great for tire pressure monitors.

Goodyear dealer put mine in. He said they were good for 150 psi, same stem they used in truck tires according to him.

I use TR-416 Clamp-on that I got from Carquest. The rubber snap-in is only good to 60psi.

I replaced my rubber stems with those listed by PineRanch above. The tire dealer said the ones I purchased were better than those they carried. Like you I went with the Goodyear G614 tires.

I just had a second flat on truck this year. First one in Texas (pulling Monty) was a cracked rubber valve stem. This latest one also looks like the valve stem (not pulling Monty). I am not returning to the tire shop that sold and installed the truck tires because they broke a lug nut off and didn't tell me. Now, it looks as if they used cheap rubber snap in valve stems. First priority has been the Monty and then the truck before our next trip. NAPA has a 416 all metal and going with that on the truck. Tredit, the wheel maker on the Montana, recommended 416S for the Monty. I am learning a lot but the tuition is expensive!

Pineranch or kylec2,
Is that the correct part # to order? It says it fits a .453" rim hole. Is that what we have?
Thanks

The all metal 416 will not work on the 04 2500 GMC factory rims. Installed what GM put on the rims from the factory which are "part" rubber. The tire dealer said the other valve stems were about ready to go also! Replaced them all.

The stems i got from patchboy.com came with rubber grommets to fit both rim hole diameters. I think I was told only semi's have the bigger dia. hole.

These are the only ones Goodyear and I could find to fit the Tredit wheels on my 2010 3150. They are listed on the Tredit website and are the stems they use on their G614 tire/wheel package.

Lee,
They will fit the RV. Somehow the thread got TV rims involved. The ones with the double rubber will not fit the rim hole.

Didn't mean to highjack my own thread but since we were talking about valve stems thought you guys might want to check your TV also. Thanks,

These will work on the TV as well as the RV.

The TR 416 is better, but it won't work on the newer wheels on the Montana, or some truck wheels.
