New camper delivery

I'm curious, what are the first things you do to your camper when you take delivery. Obviously there is a checklist, but something's you change/add just for your preference. For example, mine MUST have shower with stop button on spray head. I think I'd be informative to learn fromeveryones experiences?

Our rv came with a shower head that could shut off and when it went bad, lowes to the rescue...new head and line, also with shut off. The first things were fixing all the bad assembly issues, but after that it was adding window screen material to the back side of the vents under the steps leading to the bedroom, adding a drawer for a scanner on the left side of our entertainment center, changing the cabinet doors on the right side of the entertainment center so they bi-flod instead of open in the center, replace the regular glass behind the stove to nicer tiles, add paper towel holder under cabinet in kitchen, add stick on hooks for pot holders...dish towels, add towel bars in bath (none from montana), add real fire-proof safe in closet, add cedar in some cabinets in bedroom, add low weight shelves in some of the kitchen cabinets, changed out bulbs in dining slide overhead fixtures to led as wiring used was under-sized and either of these lights would dim when you turned on the other, and hand tightened water connections behind convenience center (some were dripping, one was leaking a bit more), ohhhh...and torqued the u bolts on the axles (none were done correctly...all too loose). Does that inspire you with your rig? John

Just commenting on your shower stop button ... it's already there on the wand unless they've changed in the last couple of model years. We seldom use it as it always brings you a burst of cold water when you push the button back to on. Reaching down to the handle and turning it off or on is way less invigorating.

Jcurtis, just the kind of answers i was looking for! Window screen to the vents, is this to prevent things from falling in? How did you change the cabinet doors/drawers? I thought you were stuck with what was provided? Did they stop providing safes in the closet? What are low weight shelves? I appreciate this info.

One of the first thing we do is disconnect the battery and shore power to leave the rig completely dead. Then proceed to take the plastic cover off the electrical panel and tighten all electrical connections that attach within the box. After that and many of the things mentioned above we start adding numerous cord/hose hangers and a shelf in the front compartment and a layer of hanging shelving in the door side storage compartment. As well an 8" x 8' long sewer tube under the front frame to handle all our sewer hoses and plastic eavestrough for hose support when set up. Just a few from here.

The very first thing I have done is to install an EMS system in the rig. Then from there is to formulate a list of planned modifications as well as a wish list of future projects. These two lists serve as my "to do" list and I tackle the items as time permits. In previous cases the list outlasted the rig since it was traded off for a newer model!

EMS- is that the surge protection?

EMS is surge protection on steroids. It not only provides surge protection but it also protects from many electrical problems and will tell you if there is a wiring problem in the pedestal. One of the things not mentioned above is that I always installed bug screens on the furnace and hot water heater vents. Our part of the country has mud dobbers and the smell of propane attracts them so it's a necessity.

To me, EMS stands for Energy Management System. The one I added shuts down certain programmed circuits if there is not adequate power available, such as when connected to 30 amps.

Check your new coach and climb up the ladder and make sure there is no staples that are protruding through the rubber roof material.
