Lippert auto leveling system

I am thinking of getting the Lippert Auto Leveling System. Am I correct in assuming that if I install it I would not need my Steadyfast stabilizers or do they work together?

I had triangulation stabilizers on my unit before I retrofitted with the LevelUP system. I sold the stabilizers because I decided it didn't need them. However, it would not hurt, in my opinion, to add them to the levelUp system, especially if you are sensitive to the slightest movement of the rig.

I have Level Up on my 3400. I had electric rear stabilizers at the very rear of the 3400 prior to adding the Level Up. I kept the rear stabilizers and the JT Stongarms. I use these as well when I set up. I think this makes a more stable platform. The Level Up legs do a very fine job without the JTs or like devices. If you were to keep the JT like devices, you must be very careful when extracting or retracting the legs as they are hydraulic and are very powerful. You could tear up the trailer pretty easily. Just my opinion and that is my concern.

I lucked out, was looking at the JTs, but added the Level-Up before I got that far. I too left the Rear Electric Stabilizers and use them when set-up for long term. For just overnites and weekends don't bother with the stabilizers. But with the six Level-Up jacks and the Rear Stabilizers down we're pretty solid. Feel some vibration from the washer when it first starts into a spin cycle, but one it balances out you don't even know is going. Would not have another unit without the Level-Up System.

Any one with the Lippert 6 point leveling system here is my dilemma.

When I drop off the trailer I turn the leveling system on and push the "FRONT BUTTON" to extend the landing gear front jacks to take the trailer weight off the truck hitch. I then uncouple the fifth wheel connection on the truck hitch and pull the truck away from the trailer. I then push the "AUTO LEVEL" and the trailer auto levels by setting all the six landing jacks. This is the way the instructions say to DROP OFF THE UNIT and it works just right.

When reconnecting the trailer to the truck I turn the leveling system on and the system reads "READY: JACKS DOWN" per instructions I push the "LEFT" and "RIGHT" buttons at the same time. The trailer goes to a point where the trailer hitch pin is about 2" to high to concect to the truck hitch. I then have to push the "RETRACT" button to lower the trailer to the proper height to hook to the truck hitch. When I back under the trailer hitch and lock the truck to the trailer and push the "AUTO RETRACT" button it reads "ERROR" and I have to go to the manual raising of the jacks. Not a real problem but does not work per the instruction that come with the system. Anyone else have this problem?

Frank

You may have to reset the system. Where ever they installed your system "brain" (not the control box), you can unplug the red wire and wait 15 seconds and plug it back in. Run it through a cycle and see if that fixed the problem.

Frank,
I assume that if you were not on level ground, that you would chock the wheels before uncoupling and pulling the truck away?

Joe,
Yes, if the ground is real unlevel I use wheel chocks in front and behind the wheels. I have a set of the between the wheel chocks you ratchet open that I do not use anymore because they either get to tight or fall out when the auto leveling starts moving the trailer.
