Bi-fold Laundry Compartment Doors - Montana Owners Club

Suggest the bi-fold doors on the laundry closet next to the entry be hinged on the left rather than the right. Nearly all washers and dryers I've seen have controls on the right and the folded doors make them difficult to see and operate.

Better yet, hinge each door separately, right and left, opening from the center. That's what I'm going to do with our doors. Single width of a door seems to not be a problem, at least with our w/d.

Steve if they hinge on the left, my drawer to add soap and softener won't pull out. I had already thought about reversing them. The hinge on each side with opening in the center is the best for all applicances.

we did just that on our 05 3475. The older combination washer/dryer also had a vent in the drain line in front on the right. The washer has moved with us from a 99 Terry, 03 Montana, and now our 05 Montana. The way the doors were hinged, you could not get to it. We hinged them on both sides and it has worked great for the past two years. There is no modification other than purchasing a set of matched hinges and taking off the center hinge...Ken

Saw that at the rally and just bought the parts...simple job and makes sense if you have the W/D.

We had ours hinged on both sides so that they open in the center. We can still use the thingy on top to secure the doors for travel. Works great! The piano hinge that was removed will be used on the piece of wood below the fridge to access the storage that is there.

Yes for the space under the fridge..they work great..thanks for the tip. So much to do..so little time..Made reservations at the Havasu.Rv resort for Jan 01, 07 /but intend to be on the road way before then...

Keystone should put louvered doors on the Washer/dryer closet to let excess heat escape. Most other brands do this.

I know they used to have louvered doors in 2004 as my sister has them in her 3400RL. I personally like the solid door but think they should be separated as mfoss has indicated or should I say I would like it better. In my mind that way they would work regardless of the hook up and in my mind be more practical.

Ours in our 2002 are solid and because of the venting I guess they do not throw off much heat at all. I often leave them cracked open a bit but have closed them as well.

We have an early 2005 and ours has louvered doors. We have the combo and there is no heat build up in the closet. That is probably why Keystone changed to a solid door. Remember most of us (Ozz excluded) have 120 dryers so you wouldn't have as much heat as a 220.

Sadly I cannot put a washer/dryer into my coach. It was looked at by the techs at the Service Center and they said the only way to make it happen would be to take up my entire basement storage on that side of the coach. One of the bad things that comes from having the 1st version of a new model.
