That is certainly a warranty item. I can't see a darn thing in mine anyway and never use it. Since view of my fifth wheel hitch is blocked by my tool box, hooking up is interesting. I've gotten pretty good at it though. In three years, I've gotten to where I can hit in in less than 20 tries. Just joking.

Mine was the same way. Dealer replaced it after it was brought to their attention.

We purchased a 2018 Montana 3811 MS. At the end of January and our mirror looks the same way. It is being replaced under warranty. I don't use it but my wife does when hooking up and it looks awful. I rubbed my fingers acrossed it and got what looked like silver paint on my fingers.

Hitch mirror

First post/reply, we have a 2018 Mh381TH, same issue with the mirror. Having it replaced by the dealer where we bought the camper from. Where is quality control from Keystone or the dealer before they let these things off the lot??? Saw two others in the campground with the same issue. Less than a year old!

Is it possible that the mirror is covered with a protective plastic film and it is the film that is deteriorating?

Front cap mirror

Our 2011 3150 Monty that was the one and only thing that became loose and I took it off within 2 months of ownership. I thought it looked dumb anyway, no loss !!

Mine is doing the same thing. I have an appointment this Wednesday with dealer for that, leaking gearboxes from the slides and safety campaign recall on the furnace. Quality control at it's best

Our mirror was dark too!

Hello ours was dark when we bought it (2018 3120RL) We removed it by warming up with a hairdryer (not too hot) and patiently removing the glue left behind with goo gone. It took a while but hubby was diligent. Our dealer has ordered us a new one but I don’t think we will put it on . We saw many at the dealership like this that hadn’t even been purchased yet.

I agree. As I mentioned earlier ours has been replaced but if it goes bad too it will be removed, trashed, and not replaced. I never use it.

Cleaned with Warm Water and Dawn, then I apply Rain X on a rag and wipe it, keeps it clean and wipes off easy.

Just received our replacement mirror, not sure if I will put it on. Every Montana at the dealership had a grungy looking mirror, great idea bad material.

I have asked the Keystone rep to send me a replacement mirror because my 2018 345RL had a painted mirror. That was two months ago. Nothing yet.

Keystone rep chastised me for doing a few minor repairs and said it could impact factory warranty.
I let them know that a decent quality control inspection would have eliminated a need to make repairs and inquired about using a certified mobile repair service for warranty issues. No response and silence speaks volumes about customer service.

Ours looked pretty bad right off the lot, new in Nov. 2017. Earlier this Spring, I got a new one under warranty. Now, that one looks just as bad as the original. Like most other people, I don't even use it. I am just going to paint it silver or dark brown and call it a day. I don't want to chance screwing things up by trying to remove it.

Mirror

My 2018 385BR came with this mirror and I did use it on occasion, mine has turned dark like the rest. I researched this and found that it was designed and patented by Thor industries who owns Keystone. I have not seen a recall notice on it but will attempt to get it replaced as it looks like crap.

Odd though that they have recall notice on this next to a useless mirror, but haven't issued a recall notice on the slide motor oil leak issues.

By the way, saw a great video and have tried it and it works. Put an 18 to 24-inch traffic cone in front the hitch pin slot and use it as a guide to back up to the Kingpin. Works pretty good, and always good to have a cone in case of breakdown on the roadway. You get them at Home Depot.
