Any FZ fans here?

I'm still relatively new to Montana ownership, so the name still rings a little unique to me and constantly reminds me of the eponymously named Frank Zappa song, Montana, where he sings about the rancher who is "Moving to Montana soon...gonna be a dental floss tycoon".

The song always cracked me up, and it's a frequent earworm for me as I enjoy my beautiful Montana fifth-wheel. It's a pretty quirky song to get stuck in your head so often. Just wondering if I'm the only one (probably).

I never owned any Zappa but I had friends in the dorm who did. He was an acquired taste. I was a bigger fan of his former guitar player Adrian Belew in his time with King Crimson and The Bears. My son has tix to see him in Houston Sep 21.

Nope, never heard of this guy before until now, and definitely never heard this song before until just now. (Personally.... it's not my style of music). I'm more of a John Denver type of person who sang, "Wild Montana Skies."

Are they still playing? I never got to see King Crimson, but I played the grooves off a lot of their albums:

* In the Court of the Crimson King
* Young Person's Guide to King Crimson
* Discipline

Those were my faves.

There's nothing wrong with John Denver. We played a lot of his albums on our road trips back when 8-Track was our favorite medium.

And I don't blame anyone for not being a Zappa fan. He wasn't for everyone. I sure had a lot of fun spinning his LPs and seeing him live.

Singer-guitarist Adrian Belew, bassist Tony Levin, guitarist Steve Via (former Frank Zappa guitarist) and drummer Dana Carey have formed a band called BEAT and are touring currently. They are playing songs from King Crimsons 80’s albums Discipline, Beat, and Three Of A Perfect Pair.

I saw King Crimson July 2022 with my two sons when they came thru Austin. It was incredible. My oldest son is a big KC fan and he has seen several incarnations of Robert Fripps bands. He is set to see BEAT in Houston Sep 21.

Drop a needle on Zappa’s “Joes Garage” sometime. Talk about an acquired taste… got a kick out of it when I was a lot younger, but would not ever let my parents know I was exposed to the album.

It's a catchy tune, but kind of a crazy earworm.

Ha! Saw the Mother's live in Frankfurt Germany in 69. Was a semi fan for a few years. Definitely an acquired taste. Don't recall Montana but I do know Brown shoes don't make it.

Wow. You're way ahead of me. The first time I saw FZ was late 70s or early 80s. Very fun shows.

Actually it was a fantastic show. First half was all his crazy political and anti establishment humor. Then after an intermission it was one long solid jam session. The Mothers were actually all great musicians.
