Cracked Shower/Tub

We have a hairline crack in the shower/tub of our 3400RL which is causing a leak. I have heard of some people repairing this using brush in or roll in bed liner tinted to match the tub color. Has any forum member done this and what success did you have?

This is not uncommon. The "Search" facility (cracked tub or similar terms) will find lots of Threads on this topic. Here are just a few:

We used a fiberglass tub repair kit we got from Amazon.

Cracked Tub/Shower Pan

We have a small hairline crack in the tub/shower pan of our 3400RL. Has anyone had experience with using bed liner to repair a crack?

I've never had that issue but many people have. Would be best to know year of your Montana and have you tried doing a forum search?

UV cured glue???

I have NOT done anything with this product - but I am a sucker when watching all the commercials on TV showing these "quality products"...and I have seen this stuff that you squirt a bead of glue and then cure it with UV light. Frankly my dentist uses a similar composite material on my teeth from time to time.

I wonder how this stuff would work on a crack in the shower or tub??? I don't know if the screen shot below is the same one I have seen on TV...there may be several manufacturers. Maybe someone here knows if this stuff is worth a hoot or not.

We used a UV plastic weld kit similar to the one above on some small cracks around the drain in our shower. No leaks so far. Have a 2008 3500RL.

Haven't used the UV light glue, but I used JB Weld to repair a plastic gear mechanism for our patio umbrella. It's still holding up after 2 years of cranking up and down.

You need to make sure the crack is clean before you tru to repair it. I recommend denatured alcohol. It is used to clean plastic and evaporates and doesn't leave a residue behind. You can't buy it in Ca. I had to get mine in Nevada from a friend. i would differently try the UV glue idea. I would not try bed liner.

We had one in our 3400RL as well we tried and it didn’t work. Finally ended up replacing entire shower/tub which took 6 months trying to find a replacement as that shower/tub is no longer made.
Hoping you have good luck with the truck liner.

Can you get under the area where the crack is and slide a piece of wood or something to help support the repair from flexing and crack coming back?

Cracked Tub Too

Same thing happened to us. I attributed it to the flex in the floor due to my weight. So while under warranty, I had the shower replaced but insisted on foam or mortar mix underneath to fill the void. This will prevent the flex and eventual crack.

A fiberglass repair guy and repair it and never know it was done. Needed a new shower in a boat that was built around the shower. Cut the shower in half and a marine repair guy had it back together and no one could find the seam.

Our shower base cracked. It was plastic, not fiberglass. Dealer was able to get a new base. Had to remove the doors and the surround walls. I removed the foam that was under the new base and replaced it with a 3/4" rubber fatigue matt purchased from Tractor Supply. Doesn't have near as much flex as the cheap foam.

3M marine adhesive. I have repaired a severely damaged shower bottom with this stuff. It just wont let go. A boat repair facility I know glues the cleats right onto the gunwales of boats with no other fasteners and if the cleat gets ripped loose it takes part of the boat with it. It's a bit gooey to use and I don't know if it comes in any other color than white but it won't let go. By the way, it's catalyst is water. You can buy it at most hardware stores.

We had the same issue. Transwest in Fountain Colorado found a replacement. It took about 6 months to get it in and installed. Keystone’s manufacturer no longer makes them. They did find one that works. Make sure they install a base support. Ours had a thin layer of foam for support. Good luck.

Cracks forming in shower surround appears to be common for Montana 5th Wheels. My new 2022 rolled off the lot with 6 cracks. 2 of them are leak worthy and another set shows obvious signs of having been repaired, although sloppily. Have it getting looked at but I’m told by Camping World the only way to repair is a fiberglass guy. It’s clear to me that Keystone needs to rethink the the use of molded shower units. The moving and shaking of the rig in motion stresses the molded shower causing the cracks.

A fiberglass repair person can repair those and it will be like new, not even you will be able to tell it was repaired
