E-Readers ... Do you have one?
I recently bought a Kindle and enjoy it. I can download books without chasing to the book store and it's eco-friendly. I'm wondering how many MOC members own one and which one do you own? I'd be interested in hearing about you likes/dislikes of the reader that you own.

I too have a Kindle, was a Christmas present from our children. Really enjoy the convenience of it and being able to adjust the font too. It is lighter than a book, but I still go back and forth between Kindle and book.

My wife and I each have a Nook. We selected the Nook because we can download books from the library for free.We really enjoy not having to carry 25# of books on extended trips, too.

I bought my DW one 2 Mother's days ago after she saw the one Cathy (Phil & Cathy) had. (Thanks Cathy!!) I Don't remember the model number, but it was the "better" of the models. (I have to have the best, you know.) They came out with a modification to it that you can now read PDF files on it. I also have loaded all of her "purchases" on my computer, in case. Last Mother's day she got an iPad, and it has a Kindle app, but she prefers the Kindle for just reading. Considerably lighter than the iPad.

I'm warming up to buying something. Glad to see this thread. What's the difference between a Nook and a Kindle? I see that Kindle has a couple diffent sizes, the larger being significantly more expensive than the small. What is your preference?

One major difference is that the Kindle has a permanent keyboard, and the Nook has a graphic display screen at the bottom with multiple functions. Not too much real difference, but you can't download library books onto the Kindle. It's supported by Amazon, and the Nook is supported by Barnes and Noble, if that makes a difference.

It's an iPad in rpad. We use it for just about everything,
DW has it now so I have to use the itouch. The itouch has
the kindle books on it and this is what I use to read most
always. Light, small and it's my favorite. Goes with me in my
pocket, check email and face book and moc forum.
I am writing this on the touch now.

LOVE mine....Have a Kindle with 3G capibility and it works great. We are 45 minutes to town and no good librarys there anyway and being able to get books when I want is fantastic. Even took it on a cruise this winter and was able to download when in port without any extra charges. Haven't used the feature yet, but love the idea that I can buy monthly subscriptions to newspapers and they deliver to the kindle, no more chasing around for the Wall Street etc. Anyone thinking about it, just do it. But order from Amazon, that way you don't pay shipping. Enjoy, I have. Teresa

It's a Kindle K3 WI-FI for me. I love it and the FREE books are great. I have purchased a few, but there are so many free books available and I am discovering authors I would never have read. I get an email everyday with the list of free books available for that day. Pick & choose what you like to read. Nice to be able to carry so many books with you when traveling. Best part is battery life and the ability to read outside with no glare.

My wife and I both have the Nook with free 3G coverage. I bought hers on Mother's Day two years ago and she liked it so much she bought one for me for Father's Day. We chose Nook for the selection and the ability to check out books from the library.

Bought my wife a Nook 3G & WiFi for xmas. At the rate I go through books, it's more cost effective for now to use the library.

If you want to read the Kindle is the easiest on the eyes. We have found plenty of free books. My wife uses the Kindle and I use an IPad. (typing this on it now). They all have pluses and minuses.

I have often thought about getting one but I like reading in the bathtub. I don't think they are waterproof.

You are so right they are not waterproof. I don't use mine near water, however, I read some posts where people put them in Ziplock bags and use them near water and it works quite well.

My DW bought a Kindle in Jan. when we got to Fla. She read 18 books over the past three months. I havent tried it yet as I have a number of old fashioned books yet to be read. 18 books has to be some kind of record!!
