battery air compressor to blow out water lines

I'm looking for a solution to blowing out the water lines without having to haul my generator, and Porter Cable air compressor to the storage lot. I'd like a 12v or battery powered compressor that would supply no more than 50 PSI so I wouldn't break anything. On the Porter Cable I can set the max PSI.

Picked up one of these a few months back: http://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B...ilpage_o07_s00 I've used it twice to top off tires on both the Monty and my truck. Might have to rig some sort of adapter to your water line, but I think it would do the deed.

Only problem I see is that those small compressors have no volume so pushing water will be slow and may not get it all out. While the faucets are closed you will build up pressure but once opened you will lose air volume. Can't you blow them out before moving it? We used to use a small compressor to blow out cottage water lines and every year we had one or two cottages with leaks, since we went to a pancake style compressor no problems.
Remember tire inflaters work because there is no outlet for the air, which in your case you need to open valves

Walmart slime inflator hooked to the city water line. let the pressure build to 50 PSI, open the drain ports wait for the water to stop. turn off the inflator. open all the water faucets, the water in the riser lines to the faucet will fall to the supply lines. Then close the faucets the repeat with the inflator. then use the pink to winterize as normal. I have done this on my SOB when I left my unit in Memphis Before moving to Florida.

I agree that most small compressors are a high pressure low volume type. That is the opposite of what you need as you want high volume and low pressure. I also used to blow the lines on my old fifth-wheel and Hi-Lo TT. I then started using the anti-freeze and have had great results with no problems. It costs a few dollars but I usually find it on sale. It also is good as it protects the drain/waste lines also. Just my opinion but I have had no issues using it and we have had some real cold temperatures and never an issue come spring time.

Have you considered a common air tank?

I chatted with a guy at Viair about their compressors. the 400P automatic would be a nice one for my tires, but he agreed that no tankless air compressor would do a good job blowing out the water lines.
