I guess I will be the one to bare the bad news to you. Your price is WAY high. Like 50K+ high. No one in there right mind would buy that set up for that amount. But good luck.

So the truck was $85,000 brand new and the RV was$70,000 with the generator. What in your experienced mind is reasonable?? The RV comes with satellite dish and back up camera. Not sure how you know it’s too much.

How do we know that too much? No body is going to pay that much.

RLCJAH, not knowing the full details on the truck, I used KBB and came up with $63K through private sale. The price you posted with FW would make the FW priced at about $82K.

Looking at the Montana HC web site, the 344RL is not in production anymore so, something close, 331RL is $69K msrp and the 362RD is $79.5K msrp. Both are brand new units.

I personally think that the "deal" you're posting about is at least $35K to high.

Many people don’t like nada.com, but the prices it shows is around $110,000 for the combo. Depreciation 1st 1-3 years is a killer.
No problem starting high as you can always come down. But that is a little too high.

One thing you can do is google both seperately and see what is being ask for similar units across the country. Some of the big camper sellers like CW and Lazy Days should have a similar unit somewhere in the country. For the most part, someone's not going to pay more than what they can get it from a dealer for.

it's only worth what someone is willing to pay.
If no one wants to pay that much that is your " I think I'll just keep it" price.

That's the downfall of buying new for sure. You WILL be underwater due to massive deprecation for at least the first 3 years, maybe longer! Unless you find a cash buyer (good luck with that at over $100K) folks will need a loan and the banks only care about the NADA value of the commodity. To top it off the terms for used vs new are really bad. Used will REQUIRE 20% down and they will go fewer years. Usually that means to get what you owe on the rig the monthly note will be higher than buying brand new and most buyers will opt to buy new. Finally, the banks usually do not consider any optional equipment you may have added if it is not listed on NADA (and they only list mfg. available options). The condition of the unit and any additional equipment may make it sell faster (it might appeal to the buyer) but it will not add any value to the unit for finance. For certain, your sentimental value or need to get what you owe on the unit are not factors that a buyer or the bank will consider!!

You also have to consider if you payed to much yourself when you bought the unit? Did you get quotes from at least 4 vendors and at least one from out of state? The typical RV sells for at least 25% under the MSRP maybe more! That's BEFORE the depreciation of at least 20% hits you when you drive it off the lot!! We bought both our truck and 5th wheel new BUT not without a LOT of haggling over the price!!! I priced the 5th wheel at 6 different vendors! I worked between those vendors for about 3 weeks before nailing down the best "out the door cash price". Far to many people walk into their local dealer and throw themselves on their mercy. It always ends up with buyer paying thousands more than necessary!!!

Like others, sorry to be the bearer of bad news but better honesty than false hope. I do wish you the best and hope you can manage to move the unit and truck. Sincerely, Good Luck.

Agreed. People selling an RV might not like NADA but it is what the banks go by.

It's not likely you will get many/any inquiries until you adjust by 45-50,000. I sold our 2018.5 3791RD this summer using Marketplace on FB and had to weed out the low ballers but the right guy finally came along but I did have to adjust some but I wasn't asking near what you are.

This summer was the PERFECT time to sell a fifth wheel, though. We sold our 1994 32' Cobra for about $2500 over book, and it was gone in 15 minutes. Probably could have asked even more...

You can sell for over KBB price. We bought a motor home 3 years ago. The new list price was $89,000. It’s an 07 model and we gave $44,000 for it. I’m sure that was over KBB but it was like new and we could pay cash. I doubt a bank would have loaned the money for it.
Your truck being a Platinum might command a platinum price. They are nicer than my Lariat. Like my MH it’s finding the right person.

So what's your point? Mine sold in a fair amount of time and the buyer and I were happy with the transaction. Much easier to find someone with $ on hand to buy a 27 year old unit too.

Your used selling price is about $25,000 higher than my Montana High Country 375FL and my Chevy Dually 3500 diesel, long bed, crew cab pick-up truck combined together when they were brand new.

I was just commenting that the market was ripe for getting the blue book prices this past summer, or even higher. You are 100% correct, about being happy with the transaction. If both parties are happy, regardless of what the price was, high or low, that's all that matters.

I wasn't saying that you sold for too little or too much. Sorry, if I came off that way. That was not my intention...

I was just shocked yesterday when my buddy stated he sold his fifth wheel for 27 Grand having previously purchased it brand new in 2015 for 26 Grand. For one reason or another it seems people are willing to spend anything on trailers since they are far and few between

A problem listing high is that it sits on the market too long. You will probably have to cancel/delete the listing at some point, then relist with updated pics and description so it looks like a new listing.

You might consider showing truck and trailer with separate prices, but then offer a combo discount.

Others here are right about the first couple years depreciation being a killer. I waffle back and forth about buying new vs one or two years used.

Around 2000 I bought a new Camry. I was stunned I had to pay more for the Camry (20k) than I did my first house (13.5k).

All the cars/trucks I’ve bought since have been used. I’m itching for a new car with the new car smell. Logic tells me that smell isn’t worth 5k.
