took the plunge, 2008 f250 larat
found a good 2008 f250 37,000 miles, financed thru credit union and the dealer bought my 2003 7.3 for cash. left the bed rails in for the 5th wheel hitch and bought new rails to install in the 2008.love the newer options, integrated brake controller, folding and sliding power mirrors. plus 100hp and 125 lbs more torque to pull with. now to do some reading in the manual....

I love my 08 6.4. There are a couple things you need to keep a check on. The radiator. Check the frame in front on drivers side front wheel for a white residue, and the bottom of the radiator. The next time you have the oil changed send a sample to Blackstone Labs to have them see how much fuel is in the oil. I had 13% fuel in my oil. 5% is quite common at 5000 miles and I have heard of 3 quarts extra oil. And like you said extra power is always good. I never herd of anybody that wished their truck had less power.

Our 08 6.4L F-350 has been a good truck. The mentioned radiator went bad at 50K miles but was replaced under the Ford ESP plan (1500.00) repair.
We had three blackstone oil test at 10/20/30K that were at or around 5% fuel in the oil. We have not tested since.New set of tires at @ 50K also.

My 08 has 62000 on it. My only problem was a broken brake line on the right rear at 55000 miles. I love the truck.

Check your VIN to see when it was built. The early '08 did have a radiator issue. Mine went at 19,000 miles/6 years old. Ford covered 2/3 of the cost (after a rather heated discussion!). Later models had better rads. Also, had to replace both rear calipers due to pistons rusting and seizing. But this could be due to lack of use. Hardly drive the truck unless towing. Good luck with the '08...we do love ours. It's pulls great!

Blackstone is a oil testing lab. Goggle Blackstone labs. They will send you a test kit free. Have the dealer collect a sample and you send it to Blackstone. They will test for bunch of things in your oil, like led copper iron antifreeze and lots more to see if anything is wearing abnormally. The main thing you are looking for is fuel in the oil. It is a $25 dollar insurance policy.
