Safety notice for all electric brakes.

Found this on YouTube regarding the electric magnates in our brakes. This guy is very detailed in explaining an issue to look for if you start having brake problems. Something to be inspected when repacking bearings.

That is good information to see. I'm wondering what year model that vid is from and if newer brakes are connected more reliably. I suspect that the only way one would know if the magnet activation system is really working is to raise the 5r, then activate the brake while the tire is spinning. I'm fairly sure that if only one failed while on the road, I may never know it unless I were extremely perceptive of the braking action all the time. It's just different so often due to variable situations.

I agree. Each year when I have my Monty state inspected (PA requirement) I have my garage do exactly that. We lift the tires off the ground and try to turn them with the brakes applied. Another way to know if the magnate is energized is to pull the cord and then get down next to each wheel and listen. The magnate should be buzzing. It's not easy to hear unless all is quiet around you.

The only fool proof fix for the garbage electric brakes system is to install disc brakes. No more brake worries and you will be amazed at the stopping power that you gain. Trust me, its $$ well spent.
