Bravery with the Corian Countertop

While we were at the beach last week, I bit the bullet, took a big dose of bravery and decided to complete the installation of the soap dispenser that came with the kitchen faucet. Used masking tape, measured carefully, yet there was still the feeling of impending doom when the drill bit and the hole saw started through the new Corian counter top. Fortunately, everything worked perfectly and the soap dispenser is installed. One interesting thing though that we almost missed. If you have a dispenser, and are in an area that requires winterization, remember that the soap can freeze not only in the dispenser bottle but the dispenser itself. Empty the bottle and pump the dispenser dry to prevent freeze damage. Obviously, I am lacking a picture, but as always it will be provided at some point.

You are one brave soul. There are some things sacred in my camper and the counter top is one of them I wouldn't dare touch.

We moved "south" nearly half a century ago and have avoided going north during the winter months since, so it is a bit difficult to imagine soap freezing!

I have drilled holes in several Corian tops. The people who provide this service are the ones promoting how risky and difficult it is. That is what keeps their prices sooo high! A good carbide hole saw and a slow speed drill is all that is required. When I drilled the first one I will admit I experienced some of the same reservations Bingo had. Jim

Bingo, knowing you and your abilities, requires me to read most or all of your posts. However, you begin this one with "suspense". Time to start writing novels!!
