I have not had those problems with my Dodge, no air leaks, nothing inside the filter and easy to wash out. My big thing was not having to buy filters every 15000 miles or less depending on how dirty the filter was. I fee this is another personal choice and do what you feel is best for you. You did not mention what make of tv you have

I've been using a K&N Filter and Intake Kit on my truck since a month or 2 after buying it new. 93K miles on it and everything is still good. I clean and re-oil the filter every 10-12K, or before that if it looks really bad. I also use a "Dry-Charger" which is a breathable cover that goes over the cone filter.

I think we can see that whether you use the K-N filter or not, it is a matter of personal choice. Those that like them find nothing wrong with them and those that don't like them will see all kinds of things wrong. It looks to me like it's about a 50-50 split.

Hi Orv. This is the reason that I have stopped posting about this subject along with all other performance items.

Here's another prospective on it. Forget for the moment we are talking about diesels, and are talking about cars in general. If these aftermarket filter systems could deliver the mileage claims they make, the auto manufacturers would be all over them (provided of course that they also don't cause additional wear). I worked for GM and can tell you first hand that ever since the first fuel crisis of the early 70's, they have been looking for ways to increase fuel economy in every vehicle they make. Of course the increase has to be cost effective, but if GM, Ford and Chrysler could all make even a one mile per gallon improvement by using one of these filters, that would be all you would see coming from the factory.

How about this thought!!
Most of us are too lazy. How many of us are realy willing to remove the filter, spray it, wait 15 minutes, wash it off,let dry and spray it again and only gain a mile or two. I HAVE HEARD 10000 EXCUSES for not doing that. Would you buy a vehicle that u had to do all that, for that little gain of course not. But , some of us will

here,s my two cents worth.i have a s&b filter. they do tests like banks does for thier filters.you might not get the mileage but your truck will breathe better. and the turbo will spool up faster giving you more power at the same mileage.more air better pulling power. check out s&b air filters

I have used K&N system for 10 years in my 95 7.3 diesel- We have 260000 plus miles on "Dusty" so far- 14 quarts of oil to service her and 13 quarts come out at the next service- I rarely add oil between servicing- I am satisfied with my K&N- Do what makes sense to you- Don

For Dodge owners you can keep your OEM filter and get the motor to breath better with one of these. I have one and I think it has helped.
