As an independant construction electrician, most of my travel time is going from one job to another so,, I usually do 600+ a day. When not going to a "JOB" I find 300 is a good stretch of the legs. Can't wait till I can retire.

We rarely exceed 250 miles per day. Might stretch it a little if it is all Interstate. We usually get a pretty early start and are ready to pack it in by mid afternoon. Always want to get in and be set up before happy hour.

RKassl, I can share from experience that your driving days in Alaska will vary according to your location and road conditions and things to see. Down the Cassiar, just off the Alcan, we drove for 150 miles over washboards and had enough. We stopped because the roads in that area were so taxing. The only time that we had a long (too long) stretch was up in the Yukon and northern BC. There was road construction around a major campground and once past it, we didn't have anywhere else to stop. So onward we went. It was over 400 miles on the stretch before we could stop or chose to do so. I don't recommend it!

Our average daily driving without our TT is 800-1000 miles - sometimes more; with TT in tow it's about 650 miles or 8-10 hours which ever comes first. We are still at least 5 years from retirement and would rather spend a few more days at our destination than on the road getting there.

The most we've done in one day is 800 and we've done that twice.

When our goal is to reach our destination relatively quickly I plan for 300-350, sometimes closer to 400.

When we are planning a more leisurely trip, I shoot for 175 to 250.

Most common is 225 to 275.

We usually travel 250 miles a day. Man, if I had to tow my rig 800 miles in one day, it would take me AT LEAST 16 hours. With all the stops we make for breaks, snacks, etc., we average 50 miles a day. We rarely ever exceed 60 mph, so if I was going to make 800 miles in one day, I'd have to travel 70 mph which I believe is much too fast for the relative size of our rigs and tow vehicles.

It generally depends on if we have a scheduled stop. We generally will drive in segments of around 2 1/2 hrs and then stop to stretch our legs. It may be to refuel, eat breakfast, or a pit stop to get rid of the coffee. The last stop for the day at a campground is at least enough time to set up before happy hour. Nice to relax before supper. We don't look at the number of miles traveled, but the condition of our butts. After traveling through El Paso and nearly getting wiped out by a couple of DOT trucks that pulled out from the shoulder in front of a semi I was approaching I quit by 3:00 and only 250 miles. The most in one day was 485 miles in 7.5 hrs. Don't ask.
