Necessity........................... (pictures)

..............the mother of invention. Truck Trunk (a North Dakota company) brand of truck storage boxes is not manufacturing now. I have a cracked plastic tray that fits into my Truck Trunk. Internet search and call around in the area, all report "part not available". Curses and tinfoil!!

Found a piece of scrap sheet metal and cut some 1-1/2" X 3" strips, painted it black with anti-rust paint, drilled 4 holes and used 4 small nuts and bolts on each side with Gorilla Glue. Now it is stronger than a new one. Aah, the good ol' baling wire days.

Ok, pictures of Tray Repair. After I took the pictures, I used the Dremel with a cutoff wheel to cut the Bolts off to reduce scratch hazard. The dowel was an afterthought. Probably either solution would work. Doing both may be like building a Ft Knox when a wall safe would have done the job.

There are many ways to do this. What I do is look around to see what I have on hand. My total cost was $.87 for the nuts and bolts. All the rest was either scrap or what was left from a previous project.

I recognize them white screw heads! Those have even been known to show up in my house on some repairs

Yeah, they came out of the trim around the convenience center. Those short self-tapping screws were too short to stay in. No threads on the ends of the self-tapping. Tooth picks and full threaded screws fixed that one. So I had those left in my box. I have a hard time throwing away old screws, nuts, and bolts. Come to think of it, I could paint them black.
