No sir - the main tripped if I tried to turn the tripped breaker on. That action would shut the back unit off too, as it tripped the main. As long a the tripped breaker stayed off, the rear unit continued to run. Mine has the main in the middle of the panel.

OK, that makes sense. Apparently a dead short to ground on that one circuit. That screw must have been grounding that circuit to the panel metal case or other ground or neutral point. Hopefully removing the screw solved the problem. But no real way of knowing what or if any damage was done without removing the panel to see the back side.

I suppose that when the screw went in, the circuit grounded and tripped the breaker immediately - that is why it didn't shock me? I think the take-home message here is not to screw anything into the bathroom wall behind the breaker box! This is a good place for Command adhesive strips.

That and keep the screws less than 6 inches

It is a heavy-duty spray hose.

Check all your lugs at your shore power supply.
Had mine trip 2 weeks ago.
One leg lug was a 1/2 turn loose .
Tighten it up and reset with no problems yet.

If you ran a screw through the romex, and you pull the screw out... you still have a compromised electrical cable in your wall. That needs attention weather removing the screw cures the breaker tripping or not. Time to open up the wall somehow and put in a j-box and splice it properly. I would not be comfortable with that wire compromised like that.

Neither would I be comfortable with that. But, a qualified electrician told me that most likely the screw tip hit the back of the metal box encasing the breakers, and at that point, grounded instantly. Since it was out of the circuit, the breaker tripped. It is doubtful that the screw went through romex from my understanding. But your point is a good one. When I finish this trip, I may tear into the wall - depending on how much else may go wrong. So far, so good !

My error... must have missed that point scanning the thread! Not going to second guess an electrician!

Not quite sure what you are referencing. The problem seems to be resolved for now. I may not have to do that
