Shades

I know this topic has been discussed but I am looking for some pointers on replacing the shades. I have searched the forum but haven't found any instructions regarding re-installing the shade.

We have had 2 of the original shades unravel and Keystone sent us new ones under warranty, Thank you Keystone. My issue is trying to clip them back in and for the life of me I am unable to get them to clip in. I seem to be able to get one side in but not the other. Not sure if there is a special tool other than a screwdriver.

If anyone out there that has gone through the chore of replacing shades any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I also went to Irvine shade to see if there was a video but did not see one.

Thanks in advance! Dan

The Irvine Shades are written about frequently, usually folks asking how to get them out. I did a Search (the Google Search box up above) on keywords "irvine shade replace" and got a bunch of hits. This Thread had a Post #6 on how to re-install

In this Thread, read Post #15 where Mikendebbie provided a diagram of the various pieces parts used to hold the shares

My rear window shade un-rolled. I could not get it out even though I do know how those snap-in clips work.
I ended up removing the Valance. After the Valance is out of the way its easy to take out, put back in.

Step one is to remove the valance. I don't know if you did that or not.

Shades

Thanks Everyone.

I did find a decent video on Youtube which helped me understand how the snap in holders work. I was able to get the replacements in but what a bear.

I did not remove the valance because I thought it would be more work but I am sure it would have been less and faster...live and learn. If I have to do this again I will be removing the valance.

Thanks again!

Is there anything better out there than the factory shades? The black ones that filter out the sun are fine, but it's the solid beige ones I absolutely hate. They pull apart at the bottom.

I have a question on the MCD shades. I think someone once mentioned a problem with traveling with the shades extended. Is that right? Seems like we would want to keep the sun out while going down the road.
Thanks.

We have had MCD shades for 10 years. We travel with the shades down frequently to reduce the heat. We have never had a problem with the MCD shades and traveling. I believe the Irvine shades are the ones you might have heard about.

Ya its the pleated shades that get all messed up if you leave them down for long periods of time. They buckle when you pull them up.
