Asian Beetles

We stopped in a Campground for 1 night just North of Oklahoma City in the later part of October. I noticed some orange colored beetles. It is now Christmas and I am still killing them. In the future when making reservations I will ask if they have any of those bugs. If so I will drive another 200 miles.

Go to DoYourOwnPestControl.com and order some BifenIT. Get a 1 gallon pump up sprayer. The mix 1 oz per gallon of water. I usually mix it a slight bit strong. Spray everywhere you can reach. If it's a bug, Bifen will kill it.
This stuff is very safe, but let it dry before allowing pets or children around it.

We live in Eastern Ontario, Canada. These things have been part of our lives for many years. They hibernate in the attic and walls of our house, and then appear inside the house. They also infest our trailer. Some years we are getting rid of them into March (we go to Florida in November usually), some years only a few weeks.

We are home this winter due to the virus, so now we are still seeing them in the house. Apparently the best way to deal with them is to vacuum them up. I have Dyson hand vac which does the job nicely, and I secure a baggie over the hole so they don't come back out. I just sucked up five in the bathroom this morning.

Squashing them is not good because they give off a foul odour. They were actually introduced to the U.S. years ago to fight aphids on the crops. They apparently do a good job of that, but since they have no natural enemies, they are too abundant. They gradually migrated into Canada, so my guess is the only place you won't find them is any place where they don't grow crops (like maybe the desert).
