Proper way to lift trailer to change tire
I have a 40’ Monty two axels and need to know how am can lift it up so one wheel is off the ground. The manual says use a jack on the frame by the spring mount that would seem hard on the trailer. I have one of those half moon ramps that you drive on and it raises one tire off the ground. Does that sound safe for the trailer?
Thanks
John

IMHO the best way is to use a floor jack under the 2 u-bolts at each wheel. In a pinch while on the road I would use a bottle jack under one u bolt.

I know you're not supposed to, but I've always used Level-up to do that.

Level up system works great. If you are going under the trailer, block up the axles for safety.

Mine doesn't have all that fancy stuff LOL
I just use a bottle jack under the axle where it bolts to the spring. Make sure you ether hook it to the truck or chock the wheels real good. When I cha;lk my wheels I put one behind the rear of the tire. Then I put the truck in reverse and put some pressure on the rear chalk. Then I put the front one in and shift to natural. Let the truck roll forward and that locks the wheels pretty good. I can tell because you cant just pull them out.

To also answer the OP's question, yes, the half-moon thing is a good way to lift one wheel. Before I had Level Up (which I haven't used yet to lift the rig since I haven't had a flat...yet) I used a bottle jack under the ubolts. Should also be nothing wrong with lifting at the frame as stated in the manual...you just have to lift higher to get the wheel off the ground.
There are several ways to skin this cat...mostly common sense with safety in mind.

I too have the level up. Have never used it on the road to get the wheels off the ground. Have used it to do so at home many times. My response was more for the folks that do not have that ability.
