air bubble when flushing toilet
When I flush the toilet in my 3400RL montana a air bubble spurts water up. This issue just started and have never had this problem before. I drained all black and grey water and it still continues to happen. Any ideas how to fix this ?

When the commode "burps" as you describe it means the black tank vent pipe is occluded. Most commonly this is because the black tank is full and needs to be dumped, however, other occlusions will produce the same burping. It could be something in the pipe itself such as snow/ice, mud dauber nest, small dead animal etc, or something from the tank, tissue or solid debris. If you can safely access the roof this time of you you might try running a plumbers snake down the vent pipe on the roof. Be careful you don't want to pook a hole in something!! Best wishes, Jay and Kathy

Sixkids,
If you look around a little you will find several threads already talking about this very issue.
As indicated it may be that your vent pipe is plugged. Another cause may be that you have the dreaded pyramid! Anyway all the other threads are saying the same thing. Check them out.

Hummmm Your handle of sixkids may have something to do with being clogged up. Put a hose down the john and see what comes out...

It could be a clogged vent but another possiblity is a pyramid forming in the tank at the bottom of the drop pipe. Check this other thread for more discussion and possibilities.

This works for us: Periodically totally fill the bowl with water and then dump into the tank. Seems to help with getting a cleaner flow when emptying the tank.

Hi All:
Had the problem of bubbling toilet on SOB and cleared it with the Camco swivel stik flusher. Now have a 2013 Montana 3800RE. Same problem. Same solution. The flusher is used thru the toilet and has over a 3 ft extention. The end swivels around and seems to do a very good job. This tool also seemed to clean the level indicators. WOW.
The tool also clears the dreaded white pyramid of toilet tissue. The tech at Apache Junction RV said that it is rare in the West that the vent pipe would be plugged. I did not clear the vent pipe but all seems well.

Wow-- Reuniting a three year old thread is possibly a new record! That so called "dreaded pyramid" is not made up of only the white stuff but mainly the other stuff going down the pipe! IT then has a tendency to "dry out"! You HAVE TO use plenty of water when flushing and then use the tank flush when emptying the black tank too. Hopefully the pyramid, if there is one, will work itself loose. Try filling the tank with plenty of water and let it sit for a few days and then try and dump the tank again. Best thing is to use plenty of water and a good tank cleaner/breakdown material. We use Happy Camper and it works great. We also use a clear section you can buy at any RV store and put it on the drain to make sure the tank is cleaning out good. If you see clear water coming out after about three or four flushings you should have a relatively clean tank.

Some problems transcend time Rondo!! Nonetheless, it is good info you posted for those newer members who may encounter the problem or something similar. Time for Carol to chime in with a "More Water" post, then the topic will be fully addressed! Hee Hee!
