Troubleshooting a single LED light fixture?
We have one LED fixture in the kitchen that cannot decide the brightness that it wants to output. It is to the point of being annoying. It almost acts as a blinking light, very bright, less bright, very bright, over and over. Our solution was to not use those lights but there has to be a reason why only one would act erratically? Will have it replaced with warranty (along with other items being compiled on a list that numbers seven already) but am curious as to what would cause a single fixture to act like it is?

I would suspect either a bad bulb or loose connection

I had one of my kitchen lights acting the same way although it was not LED. I lowered the fixture from the ceiling and found the connections to the main wiring were not tight. They are crimp connections and just had not been crimped well enough. Might want to have a look at those.

Thanks Ed, it is on the list of things to do over the course of hte winter months. Put the rig to sleep via intravenous injection with pink stuff last night, so I have until April to check the little things out. Seems I have already tackled the major ones!!

I am glad the issues you have found have not been show stoppers. I guess we will have to wait til Jan 14 to get another look at our unit. We will have then put it on the road farther than the 25 miles on the shakedown. We did not find any issues the one week we were out on our short excursion.

First thing I would try is swapping the bulb with another one. If the replacement does the same thing, then check the fixture's wires.

Definitely something loose. Could be the bulb, but doubt it.

I believe the led bulbs have a chip in them to regulate the voltage. my guess it is a defective light.

Send an email to Michael and Kat. Might as well get advise from the experts.

After having to replace 25 (and counting) LED's out of 43, I don't. Yes, I got a bad batch. Remember, you find any LED's not made in China, that I'm aware of, and the two words 'China' and 'quality' should never be used in the same sentence.
On top of that, I've had two LED units go bad in my truck, so yes, it could be the bulb. Besides, I subscribe to the always try the simplest thing first when troubleshooting, and changing the bulb is the simplest thing.
