Landing Gear Hit

This will probably be moved but it isn't regular maintenance and it isn't dealer service. Coming from a parking lot onto the road I hit my driver's side landing gear and pushed it back. It is still operational but I can see inside that the motor is no longer sitting square on top. Is there a way to straighten this out without going to service. Since we leave for rally next Friday, we're not going to be able to get into a dealer (already tried).

Ron,
I read the words but do not understand what might have bent. Placement of the motor does not mean much as long as the leg goes up and down and the mounting brackets are not broke. (That is what I believe.) If you have time I suggest you pull that leg to make sure it is not bound up. There are two pieces of metal welded to the frame that make a "U" that the leg slides into and then a bolt at the end of the two pieces hold the leg in place. There are two "U" mounts per let. I am guess they may have bent a little.

If the leg goes up and down and the welds on the "U" are not broken I would use it until you can get to Goshen and have it corrected.

Thanks, John. I didn't see anything broken, but I need to take a closer look. I wonder if I bent the mounts or broke the bolts.

Came close but, instead, I hit my spare tire and knocked it loose in Washington DC, while backing out of a "low service station" directlyinto on coming traffic! Weee. But gear was saved. I have had two others times on highways, where other RVer's tried to tell us our gear was low, thinking we did not put it up. I wonder about when I will hit mine! Hope not !
