Slides tripping circuit

2005 Montana Mountaineer 297RK

When bring my slide in or letting them out they stop and in about 10 seconds I can restart them. I hear a click at the front of the 5th wheel just before I am able to start the slides again. I imagine that is some circuit that is weak and maybe going bad. Anyone else had this problem or any troubleshooting suggestions?

Thanks,
WildBill

Thanks for all the good information. I replaced the circuit breaker up front between the battery and slide motor. Problem is gone, slides work with no stopping.

It is the auto reset circuit breaker. Mine is located in the front compartment just below the slide pump. Don't know about the Mountaineer. Lots of discussions here about the remedy for the problem.
Some have replaced the 50 amp breaker with two 40 amp in parallel. Some have replaced it with a single 80 amp. And some have had (at least temporary) success with simply replacing the 50 with a new 50. My replacement lasted about a year before it started again. Now I have two 40s in parallel.
A search for slides should turn up a number of discussions about it.

Wildbill,
Bill said it as accurately as can be stated. It was/is a relatively common occurrence. The fix seems to be relatively easy and straight forward. Good luck. Dennis

WildBill, here is the fix as given by Lippert: http://www.lippertcomponents.com/LIP/0058.pdf When mine started acting up I just replaced the culprit with an identical 50amp auto reset. Hasn't given me a problem since. Jim

With your age of rig I would do the two 40 amps if you do anything other than replace the 50 amp one. Keystone replaced mine, under warranty, with and 80 amp but they indicated that the wiring in the newer rigs can handle that. They didn't indicate what year constitutes newer so before I did that I'd call Keystone customer service.

Here is a picture of mine before modification.
before.
The slide breaker is on the left under the red cover. The other is for everything else.
.
Here is a picture of after I paralleled two 40 amp breakers.
after.
I bought two 40 amp breakers at NAPA auto. Bought some short buss bars and shrink tubing at Lowe's.
