For Father's Day

My Father

When I was ...

Four years old: My daddy can do anything.

Five years old: My daddy knows a whole lot.

Six years old: My dad is smarter than your dad.

Eight years old: My dad doesn't know exactly everything.

Ten years old: In the olden days, when my dad grew up, things were sure different.

Twelve years old: Oh, well, naturally, Dad doesn't know anything about that. He is too old to remember his childhood.

Fourteen years old: Don't pay any attention to my dad. He is so old-fashioned.

Twenty-one years old: Him? My Lord, he's hopelessly out of date.

Twenty-five years old: Dad knows about it, but then he should,
because he has been around so long.

Thirty years old: Maybe we should ask Dad what he thinks. After all, he's had a lot of experience.

Thirty-five years old: I'm not doing a single thing until I talk to Dad.

Forty years old: I wonder how Dad would have handled it. He was so wise.

Fifty years old: I'd give anything if Dad were here now so I could talk this over with him. Too bad I didn't appreciate how smart he was. I could have learned a lot from him.

Author Unknown

an addendum...
Sixty-three years old: He passed away in 1974 and even though it's been 32 years I love you Pop and miss you so very very much.

Not fair. Glenn, you made me cry. Mine has only been gone since 1990 and I still miss him a lot. Both our Dads died that year within 2 months of each other. We still say, "Wish Daddy was here, he could fix it."
Happy Fathers Day to all Dads everywhere.

Our youngest son came over to our house on Friday night and we had a "couple" of our favourite beverage. Before he went to bed he came over a gave me a great big kiss and hug and said "Dad, I love you so much and I can't think that you aren't going to be here forever". Boy, did I ever have a hard time seeing through those watery eyes of mine to get to bed.

Bill, how great your son expressed his love. To often people (men especially) have such a hard time expressing love in words. Or we get busy and forget to say it. Sounds like you have raised a great son. Happy Fathers Day!
Happy trails...........................
