I looked at one yesterday. Mirrors also more functional, but not sure if I like the style. Wife called them "ugly". Also has an option of using manual shifting w/ a "+/~" on the shift stick. Didn't look at the sticker, we get "S" pricing anyway. Guess I should drive one, but I think I want to stay with a 2005 on the lot somewhere ~ although hard to find ~ for financial reasons. I am not sure what kind of a $$ jump in 2006. Didn't I hear about a GM price slash in 2006??

That is GREAT NEWS! I just finally got the truck the way I like and it would you look at that. Chevy gives me another reason to trade in again. More power and another gear, hold me back. I have also heard for 07' the Silverado is going to get another face lift. Will probably wait for that I guess. I have noticed that many of you folks are trading your diesel trucks in for new ones with less than 100K on it. My truck in 20 months old and already has 33,000 on it and by the time this baby hits 24months there will be over 41,000 on it. I want at least 185,000 miles out of this truck. Why are you trading in so soon? (Mileage wise)

Montana Sky, you need to go fulltiming and put some real miles on that truck! Ours is 9 1/2 months old and has 29,000 miles. The prior one was 15 months and 51,000 miles when we traded it. We wanted the crew cab so traded the supercab for the crew cab. The older two granddaughters no longer fit comfortably for any distance in the supercab. We plan to keep this one next to forever, though.

The new Duramax "LBZ" is suppose to come out in the 4th quarter. Suppose to have 650 ft. lbs. of torque. There is some info at Dieselplace.com.

Steve,
As you can imagine I dream of the day (daily) that I can go fulltiming. Let me see, I am 26 now I want to start full timing by the time I hit 58, only 32 more years. =) Oh how I am counting down the days.

The diesel thing will drive you nuts. There are big changes coming for 2007 what with the requirement that motors that burn cleaner and fuel that burns cleaner. The companies are keeping a tight lid on exactly what the changes might be and what they will cost. That is the primary reason I did not buy a diesel in 2005 and I really wanted one. I Evan heard the rumor that if you own one of the "dirty motors) pre 2007 you will pay a "environmental Tax" This is Ford country around here, many plants, many Ford employees and I hear to many of them saying//If I were you I would not buy a diesel right now????? I give up....

Rich, It's possible that this is part of the new energy bill just signed? It could be ~ I just didn't have an extra 3 months to dig through all the pork in there, but if this tax is coming from somewhere, I would think it's in there somewhere.

Holy Cow..I did not think of the energy bill..I hope it isn't so..My V10 Ford just turned 100 hours on the motor and on this last 300 mile trip, in Ohio and PA fairly level towing we averaged 12.2.The MPG has beem improving as motor hours increase..Of course in Wva last month we averaged 8.6. Don't know what it gets without the tow as we never drove it any great distance without the camper attached. This oil thing is threatening to wreck our retirement plans...

Well I guess that just means that 07 is my year to buy a new Duramax for the better motor, 6 speed tranny and more friendly to the earth. Sounds like a good enough reason to justify a new truck to me. Guess I better start saving those pennies for a new one. =)

We bought the 05,350 V-10 on the Ford X plan as we have many friends who work at or are retired from Ford.It saved a BUNCH of $.Checking NADA prices of a 2 year old similar truck we can get nearly what we paid for it on the X plan if all holds up..so if the diesels look good in 07/ 08 we figure we can switch over without taking a big hit??? Remember the 07's will come out summer of 06 and the 08's the summer of 07 so by the 08 model year we should be able to tell if the
new motors(all of them) are any good????
