Update on Grandson, Will

Several months ago we asked for prayers for our little grandson Will who was diagnosed with Leukemia. He went into remission within a month after treatment, but it didn't take us long to find out he was just beginning a very long battle because those nasty cells hang around and hide and the treatment is even worse than the disease. He has had many bumps along the way (1 very serious infection). Due to the Chemo, his counts can dip so low that he is suseptible to many things. He now has to go to physical theraphy because it has effected his walking and other motor skills as well. However, the good news is he has just recently started Long-Term Maintenance. This means he should now stabalize in his treatments and most kids start leading a more normal life, and their hair even starts growing back. He may be able to start nursery school a couple of days per week in September. Unfortunately his treatments will continue until February 2010.

Thought you might enjoy this cute video of Will, age 3, and his little sister, Katie who will be 2 tomorrow. Thanks for all the prayers.

that is great news. It may seem like a long haul but the new protocols have had very successful remissions. It is worth it to hang in there. I love the way kids bounce back...wish we did too.. keep us updated.

Thank you everyone. We appreciate all your thoughts and prayers. Yes he is a pretty happy little guy most of the time. Kids going through this seem to adjust so much better than us adults.
