I have a 2018 Montana 3121RL that leaks in the out side TV compartment i took it to the dealer i got it from to fix it but no luck, I have not used the unit it yet but glad i took the TV out of it or it would B toast. Also glad i did not put it in when i got it back from dealer or would have to get another TV. What is the secret to fix it? Thanks in advance.

I had to adjust the door on my outside tv compartment to get it to seal correctly to stop leaking. I also removed and replaced the original factory caulk around the frame as I wasn't positive where the leak was originating from. Now I get very little to no moisture in that cabinet.

Outside TV hatch leak

We went out couple weeks ago and I noticed maybe 1/8" standing water in the bottom of the compartment. No idea how long it had been there.

When we had our PDI in late January the tech cautioned us about slamming the TV hatch because he has seen the backside of the latch hit and break the TV. I subsequently velcroed a thin 1/4" piece of foam to the backside of the latch and closed the door gently. When I found the water I decided that maybe the foam was preventing the hatch from sealing to the rubber gaskets and maybe that was how the water got in. It has not rained since I found the water and I have not spray tested the hatch. I did look at the way the hatch contacts the gasket all the way around and I noticed the lower right corner is slightly bowed out and possibly not sealing to the gasket. I decided to see if removing the foam pad helped the situation.

I'm had an Alpenlite years ago that had a similar leak. I never was able to fix it, but I am convinced this is caused by the hatch not sealing to the gasket.

I had some water in the storage area - especially after washing the Monty. I adjusted the latch to tighten things up and that fixed the problem. These latches don't adjust very well nor do the doors fit up tight. More good quality work in Goshen!!!

BOTH of my basement doors leaked, leaving small puddles at the opening. It baffled me until I determined the following.
The aluminum frame around the door itself, not the one mounted to the trailer but the one on the doors. That frame is NOT sealed to the fiberglass at all. The water was going between the fiberglass door and that frame, actually filling the space between the inner and outer door, until it finally ran out the hole they cut to put the slam latches in.. Some high quality silicone like Flexseal, or the like, do a nice job of sealing the outside of those doors, they’ll stop leaking. I enlarged the drain holes at the bottom to 3/16” and they drained for HOURS! Not a drip all winter.
