I must correct myself. The TOYOs were automobile tires for my Subaru.
Never had any TOYO truck tires. Cheers Sourdough!

I replaced the Michelins with Nitto Crosstek 2. Along with a new set of Bilstein 5100 shocks. So far I really like the ride. Actually an improvement over the Michelins. The Nitto's are suppose to have a stronger side wall. A different tread than the Michelins, but they ride pretty quiet.

Hadn't looked at Nittos but did just see a few good reviews. Locally, can't find a seller and Simple Tire can't/wont find a local installer after a couple emails and a call.

I guess if I had any complaint about the Micelins, it would be that they do have a somewhat harder ride then the OE Continentals and the first set of replacements, Firestone HT. They are quiet - but just too many dollars for an LT275/70x18 which even their much vaunted name can't overcome

Any tire may be good for you. People have different experiences with all brand of tire. Personally I go to the tire store and tell them what i am going to do and let them make recommendations. They are in the business of selling tires and as they may try to sell you a expensive tire It's your money so tell him a price range. They want you to buy more tires from them so i don't think they want you to have a bad tire experience. Asking here is like asking who sells the best fuel or what color is the best.

I’m looking at replacing the tires on my dually soon as well. There’s quite a price range — 140-260 per tire. I’ve been looked at different sites (sam’s club, discount tire, tire rack) and it seems like the Treadwear/Temperature/Traction ratings aren’t showing up anymore. I though it was because I was on my tablet, but I went to a PC and they didn’t show up either. Did they stop listing this information? I’m primarily concerned with getting an A on the temperature rating.

I’m still not sure which brand I’m leaning toward, only that I was a highway tire, not an AT one. I usually go for something in the upper middle price range which in this case looks like Bridgestone/BF Goodrich/Goodyear.

The “BF Goodrich Commercial” is looking good. I like how it says they are more resistance to cuts in the tread from gravel, etc. But then, I would think that also makes it a little harsher riding.

Go to Costco. Best prices on tires I've found.

I think worth the money. I’m on 60 k on this set.. if you have nearby join Costco. Maybe best price, but better is lifetime balance and rotate, the secrete to tire life. Every 5-7 k miles , IMO is best.

I've been disappointed the few times I strayed from Michelin.

I tried the Sailun Teramax on my Ram 3500 SRW... They lasted 18k miles. I tried them after only getting ~28k from a set of Michelin Defenders...

Both Tires felt fine as far as ride/handling, the Sailun we about 60% of the Defender price.

I bought the Sailun at Wal-Mart... won't do that again.

Ford with the 20” option

I too am looking at replacing my tv tires. I have the 20” option and have been considering the Sailun Terramax AT’s as the OEM Michelins are very pricey. I will monitor this thread for suggestions.

Never, ever heard of Michelin tires exploding and I have been using them for over 20 years. Wow. I have been buying them from Discount Tire and never let them charge full retail. My last set were the cheaper than Goodyear and some of the others. Toyo would be my second pick. I bought my Michelin about a year and a half ago so haven’t looked at prices recently but likely will replace them with Michelin again.

Check with Costco for pricing. They often are better priced, plus warranty is usually better. Personally anyone can have a bad experience with any tire, there are any number of circumstances that can lead to a tire failure and often play a critical part. Some tires are notoriously bad and well known. But, as a rule, I don’t put much stock in limited personal experience/advice. Instead, I talked to a hitch/air lift installer in Elkhart, Indiana (Dan’s Hitch). I was getting fitted for some air lifts for my truck, the first thing he asked was, “what tires do you have on your truck?” They install thousands of hitches, towing equipment and air lifts, so his advice was, “Stick with the Michelin truck tires you have, they’re the best”. Doesn’t mean other people’s advice given on this forum on tires are not worthy, just this guy sees a lot more than all of us combined. This is our second 1 ton truck with Michelin’s, I can’t imagine driving on anything different. And, no, he’s not a tire dealer.

18k miles is awful. One thing I've noticed is the Ram does go through tires quickly. My Michelins are fine so far.

One thing to look into is Michelins sold by Costco are made by someone other than Michelin under contract. At least they used to be.

I have 138k miles on my Ram 3500 DRW. Have had three sets of tires on it.

Currently have Firestone Transformer AT2's and they have been the best set so far. Original tires were Nexus Rodians. They were crap and I had a blowout on the inner dual at 30k miles while towing 5vr.

Replaced with Firestone Transformer HT's, which were good tires, but did not perform well in "off-road" situations. Great highway tire and best mpg tire.

Replaced the HT's at 95k miles with current Firestone Transformer AT2's. At 40k miles on this set, they show about 1/2 tread depth and perform well on highway (without noise) and great off road too. Should be able to get another 20-25k miles out of them.

I can't use COSTCO - the NY Capital Distict just doesn't have a store yet but one is expected, too late, next summer. The nearest COSTCO for me is over 100 miles East, West or South. My choices are Tire Rack which has gotten more expensive then the locals, Simple Tire who are ignoring my request for an installer or a local seller who might match Simple's prices. Negotiations are in progress.

Look at the customer reviews for Sailun Terramax on Simple Tire. Not very good

Michelin I think

I have had Goodyears and Michelins and I seem to be able to get a firmer, but smoother ride with the Michelin Defenders. Handling is a little more crisp as well. Both have performed well and have never failed. I also got 60k miles out of them on my last truck. The Michelin has better siping so better snow traction. I agree - Costco has best deal when they have the $100 rebate and installation coupon. My new 2020 came with Goodyears that I like but haven't seen snow yet.
