FT coverage is just like the insurance you had on your S/B home, except your new home has wheels and is moved around the country exposing it to all kinds of potential disasters. So, besides the basic coverage you already have on your trailer, you will need liability coverage to protect you from someone getting hurt around your rig, climbing the steps and falling or any other possible injury that could wipe you out without insurance coverage. You may also want coverage if a tree falls on the rig or a pole jumps out at you and breaks the rig. We've had both the truck and trailer under one plan with Good Sam (National General), since we went full time.

For the last 7 years of full timing we've gotten our insurance thru millerrvinsurance.com I do compare from time to time and costs vary depending on what state you domicile in, but they've always found the best deal for us.

Best way to do this is to sit down with an agent and discuss what is out there for coverage and what you want.
Like stated above, it is the same as your homeowners insurance plan.

Cost will vary greatly with what you want for coverage.

Enjoy the travel....

Good Sam (National General) had a better price than Progressive. Full replacement if needed due to loss in the first 5 years.

Currently insured with Good Sam (National General) as it was better priced in AZ than Progressive. Only a few companies will insure FT living.

coverage is what you want covered. deductions vary, liability levels, replacement value and etc.

you have to decide on the above and you should have tow service.

as for what insurance company you need to talk to agents to learn what is out there since each state varies in requirement.

I'm also looking at insurance. What type of policies do others have?

We have State Farm. It is covered under auto insurance. Do any of the others cover as a home owner's policy? We pay $550 just for our 5er. The truck is under a different policy. We domicile in Texas and have been FT for a little over a year. With the freezing weather last week, I'm finding I not that happy with State Farm.

We have GEICO at 1,200 yearly. Includes 100% replacement of the RV for 5 years, price paid for next 3 years. Also includes personal property and extended liability in case I run over someone’s foot with a shopping cart in Publix. And it’s full time insurance.

Oh, and roadside assistance

We just changed over from National General to Progressive. I did not specifically tell them I was full timing but did say we were in our fiver 9 months or more each year traveling. The binder came back and we were listed as "full timers".

Besides collision and comprehensive coverage we have:

1. $500,000 vacation liability
2. $10,000 replacement personal effects
3. Fire department expense
4. Emergency expenses
5. Liability to cover injury while visiting your trailer AND fire resulting in property damage besides your trailer
6. Fifth wheel towing in the event tow vehicle breaks down (we have coverage through AAA)
7. Extended warranty to cover repairs/ replacement of failed components and operator error (we have that with zero deductible and can use any repair shop or mobile service)

If you don’t mind what is your domicile and insurance company. I checked with AARP/ Hartford, they quoted me through another company at 3900/yr. Kind of scared me

Progressive through AAA of California. Cost is just over $800 per year for 2020 Montana 3780RL with agreed value of $85;000 for base trailer plus upgrades.

Thanks for the info Camp CA. That sounds a lot more reasonable. I have a 2021 3120 and we had an agreed upon price of 88000.
