Flex seal products
Hello,
Anyone use any type of flex seal products? Good? Bad? See them on TV but didn't know if legit or not.

The clear spray on in the can turns yellow from the uv light after awhile as my friend found out on his older Franklin park model.

I used the white spray can stuff and it flaked off in a couple of months.

I used some black spray on on my wooden shed. I found out, if the surface has any dirt, oil, or anything on it, it won't stick. It comes right off after it dries.
Personally, I'd never use any of the Flex product brands on my 65 THOUSAND dollar camper. For an extra dollar or two, I'll use the recommended stuff by my camper manufacturer. I'm not a risk taker.

I used there flex tape one time on my traps for my flat bed trucking that i was doing. It sat in the sun got real sticky and gooey and made a big mess of my trap. It didn't last more then a day. About 5 years ago had a water leak on my main slide out. I used the black spray and it seem to be working OK it did stop the leak but I never did go up to check the top of the slide after I used it so I don't know if it came off the surface that I sprayed. I still won't use it any more.

I've used the flex tape. They should call it death grip. It sticks and won't let go so lay it down right the first time.

For a short term fix, its OK. Long term, no. Outdoors, the sunlight breaks it down within a year or so, then you have a bigger mess than what you started with.
I would stick with Dicor self leveling lap sealer for roof projects, or Eternabond for any sealer projects.
The extra $$ is worth it when you want teh job done, not just a temporary fix.

I agree with Jeff. Have used it several times on different surfaces and after about a year, the sun breaks it down. I tried their glue in a tube to hold the coping on the side of my pool and it just could not hold it, even though it is supposed to be waterproof and the area glued with only about 7" long. It had no problem though solidifying in the tube even though the cap was on as tight as possible. The flex seal may be OK for emergency repairs but I would make them permanent with something else. I have no experience with the tape.

Always keep Dicor in the 5er. Use the correct stuff and do it right just one time.

Used it on my new gutters, a whole can of spray and it didn't seal off the seams from leaking. Bad product. Asked a person at a home supply outfit and he said MOST people don't like the product.

I don't have any experience with the Flex-seal spray, but I will say to seal ANYTHING on the 5er that needs tape - I will be using GORILLA - waterproof patch and seal tape. Just be sure of one thing - get it on where you want it because you ain't taking it off. Comes with a backing so you can "dry" fit and then install.

I have used black spray FlexSeal on a number of items with no problems, it stopped the leaks in everyone of these issues. Never tried a boat.
1. Pin holes in Stinky Slinky RV sewer hose.
2. Blue boy waste water disposal transfer tank, small cracks on bottom around the hitch bolts.
3. Grey water tank, angle iron support rubbed hole in bottom of the tank, manufacturing defect.
4. Cracked Black water valve. It appeared the bolts had been over tightened causing cracking around bolt heads.
5. Under slideout where floor meets side wall, water from tires sprayed up onto carpet. Poor factory seal.
6. Large water tank on old street sweeper, 6” crack, used drywall mesh and 10 plus coats of flex seal.
7. Water tight seal between abs and pvc, no pressure involved just need water proof seal.
8. Water proofed back of the bumper trailer connector. I was getting “shorted circuit” signal when driving in the rain. Solved that issue.
Will it work for you? I don’t know, but it has worked well for me.
