Boo hoo! Poor dealers. Only getting paid half of their exorbitant $150-160 an hour. That means after paying the help, they maybe only get $10-20. Considering the mark up when selling, that should cover the difference.

Yea it sucks when the flat rate book allows twice as much time as needed and they have to dip into the factory warranty allotment they get with each sale. And the poor knuckle dragger mechanic only gets maybe $20 of that $150 an hour rate.

The service techs here in CA get around $25 and hour. The service departments average around 40% efficiency. Most of the flat rate repairs cover about 50% of the labor. I can empathize with the dealerships, at least the good ones. I was a service manager for heavy equipment and I ran at 98% efficiency. I had to always find additional repairs needed if flat rate was used. Flat rate is set for a perfect environment. Not realistic in any repair industry. Just saying
