Lost two days

19 Ram, 26000 miles, spent two days in the hospital this week delayed departure one day. Let me tell you, it was ugly. Went to start it, motors wouldn’t full start, horn was honking, backup alarm blaring and starter trying to engage ... twice more before getting a dealer to work on it. One dead battery other ok until two days later and repeat. Other battery died ... ugly.

Almost hated taking off on 7k mile trip.

My 2014 Ram Cummins Diesel has two batteries. Both AGM. when replacing you have to do both at the same time with the same AGM type.

Besides the tow vehicle the Montana that has two batteries or more should be the same. If one goes bad, you should change the second or all of them. If you put a new one in to replace a bad one, the second older battery will draw power off the new one and both will fail faster.

If you haven't replaced the tires yet get ready for the nexens to start bouncing around anytime. They're every bit as bad as the rainiers on our Montanas.

I had to replace the 2 fronts at 33,000 miles. I thought the truck was going to shake apart.

Well, the Nexans were traded out at 2500 miles ... after 24000miles, the Yokohama tires are not looking great - maybe only another 10,000.

And so I sit again - 500 miles from the S&B, hooked up ready to roll. Walked to rest room and so it starts ALL over. Horn Honking, back up alarm going off, BCM off line and can't shut off the motor ... and no 10mm to unhook batteries.

Good News - 2 miles from a RAM dealer that may not open till Tuesday.

Strangely enough, when the I got the battery terminals off the ground terminal would arch to the post ... what's really bad, I had to unhook the pigtail to trailer - it was suck the coach batteries to death ... something is creating a heavy connection to ground. Save the coach batteries ...

not sure what AGM refers to, but always replace both batteries together. Otherwise the older one, which is the weaker compared to the new one, will pull down the new one prematurely.

Wow, interesting. My Chevy is a 2012. Still has the original 2 AGM batteries and original Michelin tires at 57000. It is garaged and always on a float charger. Am getting ready for a major coast to coast trip and may change out tires and batteries.

I had the same problem on my 2017. 2 failed with bulges and replaced all with sailuns now the truck rides better than ever.

Well the 2019 I left home with is not mine now. Bought a 2016 with 60k miles and just changed tires and contemplating ordering a 2022 when trip is over. and so the saga continues
