BATTERY SHUT OFF---what does it shut ?
Tried the battery shut off and with the key out and the switch in the OFF position all the 12 volt lights still work.
the only thing it seems to do is isolate the battery from the inverter/charger
( i watched the voltage across the battery terminals go down with the battery switch disconnect)
so what it is supposed to do ...and what does YOURS do.

Is the trailer still plugged in to shore power? The converter will still power the 12v items while plugged in. Unplugged the interior lights, etc, should be disconnected.

When I am NOT plugged into Shore power and I flip that switch, everything is off, except the CO2 detecter. No slides, no light, no radio/cd player, no furnace, now water heater, no water pump.
However, if the inverter is on, the refrigerator is still running. (residential refrigerator). In order to keep additional battery draw, the kill switch to the inverter has to be switched off too. So, actually, there are 2 battery cut-off switches.

On a Montana, not HC, flipping the switch "Off" leaves the propane detector, CO2 detector, the hydraulic system brain and jacks, along with the 12V charge line back to the truck will still be powered on.

Think of it as a converter to battery Isolator

On my 2006 2955RL, that switch shuts off everything but the landing jacks, as far as I know.

I only know for sure there's still a draw on my batteries with both isolators off. I installed a knife switch on my battery negative to completely shut it down.

The switch only shuts off anything that is wired out of the panel box. As mentioned, there are several items wired directly to the battery that will still work and draw your battery down with the switch off.

I think if you have solar you have to leave it on to charge the batteries. I have not been willing to turn it off to test that theory, maybe someone more knowledgeable can speak to that.

On our HC, it shuts off the converter/charger and the fridge. Not much else so I don't bother flipping it, I also can leave the trailer with a power cord at all times too

Install a knife switch on your battery(s) and forget about the factory installed battery disconnect. Unless you full time or have shore power where you store the factory switch is worthless IMHO.

I generally find one in the 3 to 500 amp range that looks like this Longacre product. Be real careful if you go to Amazon as they are mostly unknown brands from a certain Far East country we love to bash:
