CLEANING & SEALING MONTY

I washed our Monty with Thetford RV Wash & Waxcleaner and then went over the entire unit using 303 Areospace Protectant.
I used this method because I've read on this site of too many people having trouble with their decals peeling after applying wax to their unit.
Has anyone also used the method I just did for a long term & what is the status of your decals ??

Larry

I have tried several things including 303 and nothing seems to get the job done. I live in Texas so bugs on the front can are plentiful. I did not notice a significant difference with 303, wax, or AQUANIL-X, CroftgateUSA's waterless car wash. One other problem, mainly in the fronts, has been black streaks. My latest experiment is RejeX, a ultra thin polymer coating. It applies like 303 but was easier to wipe off without swirls. I also scrubber 1/2 the roof and applied 303. It's been about a month and so far much better. A lot less gunk from the roof. Time will tell

Scott,

I use the dryer sheets on the front for the bugs (also my truck) with great sucess.
The 303 did a great job of removing the black streaks too.
I'm just fearful of using wax on the decals & the 303 should let them breath, so they say.

We applied no wax to our 06 3400 ever and the graphics shrunk and peeled.

Mine is a 2010 bought in 09. I have used New Finish wax on the entire rig. No pealing of graphics and it looks like new. I do use 393 on the tires.

Use pretty much the same as above. My front graphics are cracking, not peeling or shrinking.

I have also used Simple Green to remove black streaks and road grime, as well as to clean my roof, wheels and tires.

I use the Croftgate waterless car wash..works great...no problem with black streaks or decals..been using it for 3 years now...some bugs still stick to the front cap but definitely easier to get off...I also use it on my truck... we use it at work on all the cruisers as well...

I use 303 on the tires, but not the body. It says on the bottle that the 303 should be applied every 3 to 5 weeks, it is not designed for long term storage. This thing is way to big to apply a protective covering on a dozen times a year...I use Nu Finish and have not had a problems with stick ons.

I just used a product called Awesome available at the dollar stores...like dollar tree, etc upon reccomendation from some other rv'rs and it does do a very good job with black streak removal. And at $1, sure is cheaper than a lot of other products.

I decided that to use 303 all over my Monty would require a second mortgage to buy a year's worth of the stuff. Waaaaaay too expensive to apply every month or two. Or even three. I'm going to use it religiously on my tires and exterior plastics that are always wanting to turn yellow, but the rest of it will get Nu Finish a few times a year.

My buddy is on a trip out west in his SOB fiver. Had a bunch of bugs on the front he was having a hard time getting off. He asked me what I used. Since I had just waxed mine with NuFinish prior to coming back north, my bug stains came right off with a wash. He called me back the next day and said a camping neighbor had him use dryer sheets and the front cap has never looked so good since he bought it two years ago! I going to pick up a box before out next trip.

Hi

I have had our Montana to several vinyl graphics companies that do vehicles and boats.

They all say the same thing, the vinyl used by Keystone is a quality that they only use for temporary signs and is only intended and represented by the manufacturer to be good for 1 year.

The prices I have gotten from them for vinyl warranted for 5 years installed is less than what Keystone gets for a complete set of graphics this price doesn’t including removing the old graphics.

The only hold up is my wife wants a different design on the trailer and she can’t make up her mind as to what that is. LOL
