You can't teach common sense
For many more years than I care to admit to, I have believed there some things you just can't teach. Common sense being one of them (I'm proof). Heading home from work last night, on the darker side of dusk, and keeping in mind that I don't as yet have the ability to escape to the warmer climes of the South, I was startled, when approaching my exit, by the sudden appearance of an amber turn signal right on my bumper (huge run-on sentance I know). It's dark, this guys got no lights on, window tint so dark they may as well have painted the window black, and driving on ice like they were at Daytona. They pulled into the grocery store I had gone to, and low and behold it's a teenager wearing Basket Ball shorts, and it's like 15 degrees out. Maybe I'm to old to understand all this, but in my opinion, this looks like a perfect setup for a "Ron White" comedy routine, "You can't fix stupid".

As for wearing short legged pants my cut off temp is 32 degrees. I will then put on long legged pants. The park we are in now many people have said you must be from up North? I have worn short legged pants as much as possible all my life, its just much more comfortable for me. I agree there is no way you can teach common sence. GBY....

Oh, nooo, it's not just the kids. Two years we spent in Missoula, MT., and I never got a handle on the local winter gettup of Patagonia parka, hiking shorts, and sandels with wool socks.

In Texas, teachers looked forward to the cooler months because then, and only then, the teenage girls began to cover up their bare midriffs and ditch the "hot pants" (very short shorts). But in Montana, winter doesn't seem to mean much to the high school girls. They're still prancing around without socks in rubber flip-flops or Birkies, tummies still showing (until they're sent to the office, triggering the mysterious appearance of a long-sleeved, knee-length sweater or shirt as they walk from the classroom to the principal's office). I have seen girls walking in 6" or more of snow in their sandals and shorts, even when the temperature is in the single digits. Guess these ranch gals are tougher than the gals in Texas!
