VW TDI vehicles

Darn, after driving from NC to FL this Monday and averaging 48.5 MPG in my 2013 Passat TDI, the EPA dropped the news on the not so clean diesel. Double whammy here, I also have a 2011 Golf TDI. Just a hurry up and wait scenario at this time since their value has dropped overnight. Sure like them tough!

I have a 2013 Jetta TDI ... near the same mileage hiway. I really see no impact for me on the latest flub bub at VW. I kept my 05 TDI for 7 years ... I'll may keep this one longer. Just because there is a recall doesn't mean you have to be at the dealer bright and early the next morning ... it could take years for me to have the supposed software removed. It drives out just fine as it sits. My 2000 7.3 spits out way more into the air with no issue from "big brother".

If you are planning to keep your VW for a long term I suppose it's not much of a problem but for those about to trade or sell what they have there will be a devaluation. How much is anybody's guess.

Mine will outlive me. Don't plan to trade and by the time they figure how to fix, which will probably include new particulate (sp) filter system, it will probably be a few years down the road or in litigation.

Is just about the federal government getting more money. Look at Hyundai they cheated the system also. and they use 5w20 oil in there engines to get better fuel mileage of course at the engines expense, VW has one of the best MPG of any car out there so i think it should not sway you from a fine auto as VW and buy the way i have a 2001 Saturn SL2 and I'm still getting 40 MPG even with 200000 miles on her.

VW diesels have very long life expectancies and are pretty darned dependable. A smart owner would just hang on to what he has and let this all blow over. A new one with 3 more new gadgets on the dash shouldn't be worth it to an intelligent individual.

I wouldn't bet it's only VW but let's hope so. If it's not who is going to take their diesel truck in to have it reprogrammed. Not me. I don't think mine would pass 1970 standards. I'm glad I don't own VW stock. This will cost them billions. I wouldn't doubt 20 billion.

If I owned one, I wouldn't worry about it. They'll last a long time and are only a problem for the feds and the state of California, not for individual owners.

here is a report on all TDI Diesels and Audi.

We have a Jetta TDI Clean air Diesel. HA HA, boy did VW try to pull the wool over the eyes of all their customer's, EPA, USA, Canada, and Europe.
Clean air is for the world not just California.

Let quote Autoextremist
The Auto Companies. Editor-In-Chief's Note: You don't think VW is the only automaker to manipulate emissions tests, do you? I hope not, because it's too easy to do apparently and well, it's not like the automakers collectively have a glittering reputation for doing The Right Thing when it comes right down to it. But make no mistake, VW's image amongst its loyalists - TDI buyers in particular - is toast. And this will have a ripple effect throughout VW's business here in the U.S. The rest of them? Let's just say that heated, contentious meetings are underway right now to determine if anything untoward was done, and when.

your right mlh, They all have stuck it to their customers in one way or another, Ford had the Pinto, Chevy has right now the ignition key switch, VW has Emission problems world wide now and their CEO has stepped down today. Goodyear had tire separation on TA Radials, the sad part about it is 3 of the 4 has had loss of life 75%. I don't want to list all, but. the only one that gets hurt is the consumer from corporate greed.

There are hundreds of thousands of vehicles world wide that will not come near today's emissions benchmark ... other than beating the tambourine, a lot of us think this is pretty ho hum stuff. Deflate gate is winding down, Trump hasn't insulted someone in a day or two, something has to rise to the forefront to mesmerize us.
