Missoula! Looks good, anyone around here?

This is a big town! Should be fun to explore.

After this, we would head on up to Canada, but no Passports

Ed, I just passed that on the way home here! I wondered if it was good. Thanks, we will try it. We plan on the Farmers Market too. The smoke jumpers museum sounds interesting.

Ozz, might want to hit the Golden Corral before you leave town. Someone said they thought you were looking a little lean(just kidding). A few years back the company I work for sent 7 pipefitters to help out at a shutdown at the Smurfit Stone paper mill about 5 miles NW of town. Had a good time while we were there. It helped that we flew over in the company plane so we didn't have to make the drive. If you drive 11 hrs west I will move my Montana over and you can have power and water but no sewer. That way you can explore the great northwest.

Had to make a sort of emergency stop in that nice town when the check engine light came on in the SOB, Cummins place. They were absolutely great. Hooked up the laptop, saw the code was a one time thing on the EGR, cleared it, and I was on my way. The stop took about 5 minutes total, and that's because we chatted a while. Wish we had stayed longer in the area. Next time.

Ozz, if you are heading to Canada without a passport you should be prepared for a long stay. The Canadians will gladly let you in to their country, but the Americans won't let you back into the US! I am assuming you will be taking the Roosville, MT crossing.

Larry, it is indeed. That's why a guy has to be good!
Sue's brother in law works at the power plant around there somewhere.
Wayen, I didn't know that detail... No we wouldn't try it without the right paperwork, I do wish we could go there. I would have to store my guns somewhere.

Jim,
I don't know why I can't recall any restaurants we ate at in the Missoula area. I usually recall them. One of the things we've learned is to ask the locals about good food places. This has worked really well. My DW is a member of Curves and she has found some great places by discussing the issue with the local members. I'd hazard a guess that the percentage is around 95% positive experiences. Happy Trails, Dennis and Mary Kay.

That's good advice. We have had very good luck researching local 'eats' by Goggling the places and checking the ratings, but you have to sift through them as well. I know from having bars and restaurants as customers, with 2 and 3 shifts of cooks, different days and different days of the week, the product can vary wildly. One thing about the big chains, they stress that any given meal should mirror the same meal in the next market. Consistency. If it is a bad menu item, it will die of attrition, the good menu choices will thrive.

Jim,
I love the ability to look up stuff on my new SmartPhone. The problem is that several of the restaurants we've looked up were no longer even in business! Guess up to date info is not just a problem with the online stuff but from live people as well since a couple of times a reference from a local turned out to no longer be there!

I love all the tech stuff we have available. We live in a wondrous time. Keep on trucking, Dennis.

This last week while camping with friends (from Missoula) we mentioned the Pearl Restaurant to them, they said that they had not been there but the food sounded really good!!
If you are headed up I-90 thru Coeur d'Alene, stop at Moon Time which is off exit 15 on Sherman Street. Probably the best food we had while camping..... But don't let my wife hear that!!!

I'll add that it is at 16th and Sherman across the street from Jimmy's Down the Street-which was featured on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives on the Food Network.....
