We're going to Topsail Hill Preserve

We're going to Topsail Hill Preserve State Park outside of Destin this Saturday and we're staying for 2 weeks. I have to go to the beach and fish every day. It's a tough job but somebody had to do it. My wife has to lie on the beach every day for 2 weeks. We're going to try and keep a good attitude about all this but it will be tough.

Just don't know if a man can suffer through two weeks of that or not. We considered moving to Destin summer before last when we were there. We vacationed there as youngsters before the area was commercialized. They needed a volunteer at the National Seashore park on Okaloosa Island across from the Gulfarium.(the job is still open) We discussed it with the coordinator, and it was a little more than we wanted. One person had to work 40 hours per week. No splitting time between couples. Couldn't leave the park when off duty unless relieved. Like the old folks used to say, "too much sugar for a dime".

Dave,
Save some fish and some sun for us!! We will be there the week of Thanksgiving again this year. Topsail is our favorite RV park that we have visited. Last year, the only bad thing was the red tide was present when we were there, hopefully not this year. Be sure to give us a report when you return. Wonder if they ever followed through on getting wi-fi in the park, anyone know????

No, still no WIFI. They're still making excuses. I suggested they bring in TENGO which is a pay service but still better than nothing. We stayed in Navarre last October and the campground had TENGO and the service was excellent. We have stayed at Gulf Breeze Resort in Gulf Shores and they have free WIFI when you can sucessfully hookup. The problem is you may be on and get kicked off. It's very iffy. I can understand that the State of Florida may not have the funds to put in WIFI but with TENGO, I believe they will put in the service at no cost to the state and I believe share some of the revenue. That's a win-win situation. I have E-mailed the govenor of the state and am awaiting an answer from him.
