If you don't want to worry about the weights, get the truck that tows the most according to trailer life.. on ours it was the ram dually, aisin, 4;10s auto level.. 31000 tow rating true, but it's the axles, gvwr, front and rear axles, payload, gcvwr..after we bought ours, we don't even think about weight..

Make sure to check the tires for there load rating. Don't go over that and you will be fine. I said it before and I will say it again. The yellow sticker is only for DMV. It's how DMV charges for registration. It's for all the trucks. If they allowed for the weight capability to increase, DMV would continue to raise registration fees. They are so high here that eventually you wouldn't buy any more big trucks. I paid $650 for a 15 F250. Seriously this is nuts. They keep increasing payload and power numbers but the yellow sticker remains the same.
4000x 2? I don’t get this?...

The best way to understand your truck GCVW (gross combined vehicle weight) and your cargo/pin weight is to put the rv & truck on a truck scale. Most truck stops have a CAT scale and will let you weigh you rig for ~$10-12 with each additional weigh for $2-4. I put my truck with loaded trailer on the scale, then unhooked and just weighed the truck. I discovered that my RL 3100 had a listed pin weight of 2,400# unloaded. With the loaded trailer & water, pin weight was 3,150#. When I added dogs, portable generator and us, figured my cargo capacity weight was ~3,600#. My GCVW was 14,200#.

Would recommend this approach, you then have some good info to make decisions with.

As promised

Just returned from picking up our F350, diesel, crew cab, 176" WB, 8' bed. Drove 245 miles in our 2018 F150 and 245 miles back. Was very happy with the highway mileage. For the first 104 miles south on 95 to NC, the average MPG and distance to empty both kept increasing. At the NC border rest area my DTE read (1,014 miles was 926 when dealer guy delivered it at Arby's) and the MPG went from 17.4 to 18.8 and was 20.1 when I got home.

As promised here are the photos (let the numbers game begin, again).

Same style truck I plan on buying next year. Nice looking rig, is it also 4x4? Around here inventory is pretty slim. My hopes are it improves around the first of the year.
Please keep us updated as to how you like it, or don’t.

Should have included that! Yes it is 4x4. Only negative so far is I miss real butt cooler seats - "ventilated" ain't cutting it. I'll be Googling how to refrigerate my seats while having my a.m. coffee tomorrow...

Fine looking Truck Rip!

Impressive payload numbers for sure. That's nearly 1000lbs up from our '14.

Thanks for the info.

Nice ride. Should be good for about 3800 to 4000 lb load. That would handle most trailers.

Wow, Ford really upped their game for 2020. I have the same truck in a 2017 only SB and all the axel and payload are much lower. My payload is 3484.

Edit I meant to reply to Jim B (not Creeker),
2020 specs show an SB payload can be anywhere from 3,120 to 4,460 - quite a spread.

Keep in mind that in many states or provinces the licensing and registrations change at the F450 level.

That really blows. Here in Tennessee we pay a flat $29 to register any car, truck, or RV that is not used commercially. We also do not have any personal property tax on vehicles. Saves a bunch of cash every year.
No toll roads in the entire state!!

Right about 10. Sometimes as low as 9.6mpg other times as high as 10.2mpg.

Just camped over the weekend with a friend of mine who moved to Texas 5 years ago and recently moved back. He shows up in a 2020 GMC Denali 2500 diesel crew cab short bed towing a 2020 Grand Design 353 whatever toy hauler weighing 16000 + pounds. I show him the yellow sticker on his door jamb stating 1900 pounds capacity and he called me the weight police. Lol

I told him the pin weight alone on his camper is 1000 + pounds over his payload he didn't seem to care.

Just another case of people are going to do what they're going to do they could care less about those numbers whether it affects them or someone else.

Surprisingly the rig look like it towed level and didn't squat the truck too much

I am called the "weight police" quite often as well. And, I understand why some folks just figure if it makes it roll it's OK. Once brought to their attention it escapes me how so many think those numbers don't have any bearing on anything....a "truck" is a "truck". All conversations about truck payload/gvw being government driven aside, gvwr/gawr/gcvwr are all there for a reason and different series of trucks are built for different things...as well as the components.

I also know folks that know they are overweight, know better but just don't care. Had one guy tell me he was sure he was several hundred lbs. over gawr but "these things are built like a tank....and that Cummins pulls it like it's not even there" (a 16-17k 5th wheel).

Being 200-500 lbs overweight I wouldn't get too upset about. But when you're talkin 1000 pounds over your payload with just the dry weight of the camper to me that's a major issue. By the time he's fully loaded he could be more than double that over his payload.
