Getting ready to purchase some "preventative" UHWM sheet before my Mpontana is delivered, and I found a source with 48" long option. Curious if 36" is long enough for all of our slides, and is it wise to do this to all slide bottoms? Need a length for a 3120, if anyone has measured theirs.
Thanks
Allen

Absolutely fantastic PDF Chuck! Ordered the UHMW on eBay in the 36" length x three sheets for dinette and kitchen slides on our MHC 330RL. Came in two days.
The PDF makes a great parts list and tools needed. Appreciate your effort.

Sorry it took so long, but I have uploaded ChuckS' PDF on "Darco Slide Out Bottom Cover Repair" to the MOC Files section in the Miscellaneous Documents category. Here is a link to it.
https://www.montanaowners.com/forums...?do=file&id=64
Hopefully this will save ChuckS some time and effort and enable members access to the excellent document much quicker.

Our dealer (RV Corral in Eugene, Oregon)!installed a product they called “Slick Slide” or “Slide Slick” to the bottom of each side of the slide. It is a polished stainless steel plate with a slight flange on the outer side edge and a “ramp” section on the interior leading edge. Seems to be working well so far. Charged us about $250 for the install, which was worth it to me to avoid the hassle of DIY.

Replacing the floor on my 165 inch kitchen slide. Wouldn't have believed it but the slide surface attached to the floor frame was just 3/16 thick wall board used in RVs. No wonder that fabric is fraying. I'll be using 7/16 strand board to sandwich the floor frame.

My darco wasn't tearing or wearing but the slide was jumping going in & out. I put 3 12 inch wide strips it didn't help the jumping.
It's like the wear bar is sticky. What is the wear bar made from?

Wear bars are normally made of UHMW plastic. Self lubricating. If it's a hydraulic slide it sounds like a drive wheel cog is missing. Just look underneath and inspect the drive wheels. If electric slides it will be similar but I am less familiar with the specifics. Another more remote cause would be debris or a screw head sticking up. Mark one eyeball and strong light is called for and it might help to have an endoscope or inspection camera.

My slide that is cable runs on rollers, not wear bars. It also shudders a bit, you might just be over thinking it, maybe a video would clarify.

Accu-Slide had a batch of bad gear boxes around your time frame. Our was doing the jumping and Factory Techs didn't have a clue, but they had the NORCO (parent of Accu-Slide) on site. Soon as they heard and saw the jumping they said "Gear Box". Had it replaced and no issues since.

If your slide shudders when opening and closing, the cables may need adjustment. If the top cables are too much tighter than the bottom, this can cause the sticking, shuddering . You can also spray slide out lubricant to help the problem. Works for me. Having a new cable installed on one of my slides and they will be checking the tension on the others to make sure they are adjusted properly. I am going to try chucks diy solution using the plastic strips.

They seemed to be adjusted about the same. I was hoping using the strips would eliminated the need for lube. When it started this I ended up using about a 1/2 can of WD 40 dry lube on the darco & it was good for quite a while.

We did Chuck's fix on our dinette slide and it worked great. Tried to do it on the kitchen slide but after the metal strips were installed the slide had a very hard time getting up over the roller or glide bar. Can't tell which it has. Had to take the strips back off. Hoping to come up with another fix before the Darco tears too bad on that slide.

My Darco is good it's that the slide doesn't slide it hops & jumps. I'm in the the process of putting 2 more strips on for a total 5 pieces 12 inches wide.

Ho guys, Chucks idea is awesome and i was almost at that point but didn't have access to a brake table. So, i found a product called slide skis. Installed one today. Works great. Covered the torn material and in my opinion looks sharp. Should have came from that factory that way. I would have done the other end of the slide however weather and daylight caught me.

Do you have a link for these "slide skis"?
