fused the 2 doors into 1
I added a small piece of angle aluminum, and screwed both doors to it. Now the 2 doors act as 1 big door. No more hitting my head because of an open door.

Head Banger Door
Please see the fix I made to the problem door. Now once you let go of the door, it closes automatically. You can set the tension to your liking. Also, I put the closing bar on my table vise and use a metal pipe to put a slight bend in it so that it smoothly glides along the track.

I took our door off. Some take the "I'm smarter" view and say close the door, but many have an issue. If it wasn't a problem it wouldn't be posted. No need to talk down to people. It is a safety design flaw to put an obstacle at head level and then ignore the problem.

From one retired Chief to another I think we all know how it goes when setting up the trailer. You have a dozen things to do, buttons to push, hoses to hook up etc, etc. As you walk up the stairs to the front of the trailer while looking down where you are placing your feet and the next thing you know, "Bang".

So true. I am a fairly smart person, but from time to time I get distracted, unlike some, and may get a bump or scrape. If we didn't do that the pool noodle makers would go bankrupt. Thanks, Chief.

I like this and think I'll copy but try to conceal the aluminum.

Hi
we did once a quick fix on the road with a window spring.
After my wife got stitched up we went straight to ACE.
Working still strong today.

Great ideas. I like the aluminum strip and will probably go with that. I bought the springs, but I'm not sure if they will interfere with the space. That is what this forum is all about: people helping rather than judging.

One of the nice things about a forum like this is to discover that you aren't the only one that feels like an idiot. Last trip out a very sudden thunder storm hit with heavy wind and rain. We were scrambling to pull our awning in while also trying to keep the easy-up tent from blowing away. My wife was managing the switch then ran up the stairs to get my coat for me...bang. She's on the floor, storm is raging, I'm running inside to help her. Fortunately no blood but what a bump. We survived the ordeal with no damage except to her head.
This thread has inspired me to do some kind of fix. The aluminum strip is clever and a door closer is also a good option. Thanks for the ideas

This hasn't been discussed for a while but that door got my wife again. I went searching again and found these. Gonna give them a try...

head banger door
My husband took the door off completely. Now, neither one of us has to worry. It also is very easy to get to the panel.

Head Baning Door Solution
Hey any and al of the Montana High Country owners that have banged their head on the hallway convenience door. We have a very quality solution for you. The smaller glass doors over the fireplace actually fit perfectly if the large control center door is removed and replaced with the smaller glass front door. This way the smaller door is up higher where you will not bang your head and your controls are exposed so almost no reason to even open the upper door. The door matches the other cabinet doors perfectly along with the smoked glass and it looks like it was made for the spot. We have this one for sale. It cost us about $150 for the door frame and the glass to order from Keystone but it can be yours for $50.00 plus shipping. I don't know how to post a picture of the door we ordered with the smoked glass insert but will send you one if you are interested. (208) 867-6235. Thanks Bill

We ordered one of the smaller glass front doors, 13 x 13 square that fits perfectly if you take off the larger door and install this smaller one leaving your controls exposed. We since sold our High country and we are stuck with the door we never used. I can send you pictures if you haven't come up with a solution as of yet. We both banged our heads too many times and had to do something to eliminate that. We sold the 5th wheel before having a chance to install the door. Call or text if you want to see some pictures. $50 plus shipping for over $150 in cabinet door frame and smoked glass. (208) 867-6235. thanks, Bill

Looked at new Montanas over the weekend. No doors on them.

My wife hit her head at least 4 times on our 2017. The last times I chuckled and mumbled about never learning. The chuckles and comments are probably why we have a 2019 3671 FL now. That pesky door is lower and steps to living room are wider.

Simple solution. Small bungee, two small eye-screws. Problem solved
